You didn't show transferring the bearing raceways (the tapered roller cups) from the old rotors to the new ones.
Did the new rotors come with cups installed? If so, back in the day it was always considered a failure waiting to happen if you used different cups than what the bearings broke in with. Is this not still true?

The gray TFI module on the side of the distributor does have a tendency to go out on 5.0's and give you strange sudden power loss/cutting in & out problems, and the aftermarket ones (which are completely blank unlike the Ford OEM which say Motorcraft) are notoriously unreliable. That is a real gem Eli has there!

Longest run car production is Definately the VW Mk1 golf from 1974 to 2009(35years) some, like new models are fetching heavy money as the last run they made 1000 special editions in South Africa..
