I've done a video on the most reliable Mercedes AMG Car ever built, I've made one on the best turbo diesel Mercedes ever made and I've made a few on factory defects. This is the story of the least reliable AMG ever made, the M156 6.3 Liter V8. The first engine built from the ground up by AMG didn't exactly pan out in the reliability department and in this video, I'm going to prove it to you. Enjoy and stay to the end to find out why I just bought a car with this ticking time bomb and why I think the M156 is still a total legend.

with all these issues that M156 has, it's still pretty reliable though compare to the M157.

Hey guys, I have just purchased my 09 C63 and low and behold (after being told by the seller that Mercedes has checked the car and this vehicle wasnt affected) I now have coolant lights and check oil lights and check engine light as well as a murky cloudy film all over the oil cap. Trying to work out which is the best way forwards now. I have been told replacing and flushing the engine will not resolve the long term problems of bearings failing as the glycol wont flush out of the bearings completely which leads to bearing failure. So suggest a full rebuild/engine replacement.
Does anyone have any experience they can share with engines that have had head bolts fail?
Obviously not running the car any longer as these lights showed up a few times but now have lost a lot of coolant.

    Appreciate the help.

So did the p30 package take care of the bucket issues?

Stop talking, your embarrassing yourself. Only a complete fool would call the M156 unreliable.

    So, to summarize:
Im a long time M156 owner who easily changed out my head bolts one by one with no issues and addressed the cam phaser plates with similar ease and, most importantly, youโ€™re a f&n moron who peddles panic porn.

Is this the same engine in the 2012-2014 amg c63?

Iโ€™ve owned a C63 M156 for 10 years. This video title is absurd on its face. The engine has NEVER stranded me. The female headbolt issue was a very easy R&R one bolt at a time. Cam phaser plates are easily addressed. Valve bucket wear easily addressed with more frequent oil changes.

My w211 e63 has 202k miles and I tuned it for e85 without doing anything to it.. I beat the living shit out of it every single day and it has yet to give me any issues. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Take a guess at my new M156 equipped car. A little hint, it's white on black.
