Starting my Turbo Diesel Mercedes in a -40 degree wind chill polar vortex wasn't the best idea. I think my CDI has an issue.

Thats not normal you have a problem. My 2002 golf diesel starts up no problem in that temp.
why do you have two of the same cars?
That black E320 has some serious issues.. these cars (if stock) should not have any smoke leaving the exhaust pipe, especially the BlueTEC models. They were designed with 0% particulate matter (leaving the exhaust pipe) in mind.
Re. The black Mercedes.. it is the glow plug module
Replace it!
The silver car is like mine! It does not have a block heater
I had issue like the black Mercedes replaced the glow plugs which looked good. Then I replaced the glowplug module and all is well now.
Loved all the cranking on the black car! Would love to see an inside view of that too
My niegbor revs her benz diesel really hard in the morning for 10 minutes
defintely glow plugs on the black one!!! not injector, and not compression bc once it runs, it sounds great and you'd definitely hear a miss caused by an injector or lack of compression
Now the Black e320 cdi is atlwast 10x louder than the e55😂
But a lot of rust issues

Enjoy you're videos Alex. My E320CDI sat quite a while and started OK in minus 27 Degree Canadian Weather with no Issues. Now to clarify Wind Chill does NOT affect Vehicles just Humans.
