Never had the high horse-powered german cars, no place to drive them outside a track in North America, but have had E39, W123, and W212. Mercedes vs BMW, BMW has more maintenance and repair than Mercs, but I still like both equally. Each are great cars. I just don't like all the extra electronic gizmos that distract from driving. German cars rule because systems are rebuildable or repairable, where American and Asian are replace whole parts.

Had both. They're just two different animals with the BMW having the Rawer feel vis a vis to the Mercedes being more refined. If I were feeling reckless it'll be the Bimmer a night out dressed maybe the AMG. As far as maintenance contrary to what some may say the Bimmers seem to be more straightforward when it comes to maintenance especially when using a Scanner it's just more specific-precise. With the Benzes the scanner results are more general needing a little more deduction work.

I feel like the S engines from BMW are so badly misunderstood. They are racing engines modified for the road. But at heart, still a racing engine, so it will need a higher maintenance. The M113 is like a Mercedes approach to an LS, simple and efficient. They are not comparable, IMO, from a petrolhead pov. Different strokes for different folks.
