Right peter give it a shot okay well peter. We have a fuel leak that that's for sure. This is not bellissimo steering straight peter. I'm almost done what does that smell like to you oh man this sounds so bad last year.

I was given a 1989 bmw 325i for free the car hadn't run in 10 years and when i started it for the first time it sounded like this i fixed. The engine using a totally normal and conventional method replaced some rotted out brake lines. And then announced a car giveaway that for every five dollars donated to the national. Ms.

Society you got one entry to win the car the previous owner's father had ms. And this was his dad's car for many years before his dad gave it to him unfortunately his father passed away literally the day. I announced to the giveaway. But the silver lining.

Here is that we were able to raise an astonishing 54 000. For the national. Ms. Society now i'll explain this later in the video.

But basically i picked the wrong winner live on youtube. I thought a guy named tony rose won. And so i emailed him to telemed1 and he responded back. Telling me how excited he was and about how much he loves bmw and how he's been living with ms for 13 years after realizing my mistake.

I had to email tony back and tell him he actually didn't win the car and then i'd send him some lsc merch as a consolation prize. I then offered the real winner a cash prize instead of the car and he accepted allowing me to still give it to tony. But i didn't tell tony this because the plan is to fix a few things on the car and then drive it for the first time in 10 years. 400 miles to dayton ohio.

To surprise tony. And with that we gotta get to work we're leaving tomorrow morning and uh. Yeah. This isn't good and this isn't good either.

So yeah. We're kind of off to a rough start. I mean. It's not really starting at all i wish we had a rough start right now all right we got the jumper hooked up peter.

It's been a while you wanna do the honors here. I am hopeful yeah come on baby all right i'll take it peter are we gonna make it uh. Yeah. Yeah like percentage chances.

We make it to dayton ohio. Let's say 45. All right yeah. These tires are like 20 something years old.

I think they're 14. Not good that one too this is so bad i feel so bad for these tires right now look. At this 80s love right here look at that well it's been many months since we started it the last time we ran this engine was when we fed it 20 gallons of water and it's still sounding pretty good we've had multiple stuck valves with this engine. Because of how long it sat for it was just all gummed up with carbon.

But the water seems to have fixed it sounds like it's got a little bit of a miss right now. We'll have to take a look at that we're dealing with a five year old battery. That doesn't like to hold a charge. So that's something the previous owner.

Did leave a bunch of spare parts in the back. Including this crusty old fuel pump and sending unit. And i'm wondering if he replaced that fuel pump because it kept on popping fuses so i was driving this a few months ago when we made the other video and it died out on me and the fuel pump fuse had popped and then i found a bunch of burned out fuel pump fuses right here. So that's not a good sign that will definitely prevent us from making it all the way to ohio.

We're going to ohio ohio. Ohio. Baby. I hope this is us and we do have some issues that are apparent right here.

So. This gas gauge does not work we have no idea how much fuel is in there. We have a check engine light 1989 obd1. I don't have anything to read that but it's on we have check flashing and we have parking brake and my finger shadow is the only way you can see these lights because it's blinded by the sun and by sun.

I mean led light on my camera cell phone check this out 2002 date code on these tires 20 year old tires on this abandoned e30 and these are real made in germany bbs wheels 14 inch. These are very period correct and i think quite valuable all right let's take a look at these brakes. These are nasty and as much as i'm worried about this car not being able to move on its own power. All the way to dayton ohio.

I'm a little bit more worried about it being able to stop we replaced a bunch of brake lines on this in a past video. And it's it's time all right before we do anything we have to soak. I'm just going to go a little crazy here on soaking pretty much everything because it's all frozen together. We're gonna spray the cree oil in here as well and on the brackets and let this soak.

All right came off surprisingly. Easy. This is what i'm nervous about let's get out of here. Oh.

It's turning. It is turning. I got to say this cree oil is pretty good i'll leave a link down. Below it's made in the us.

I just started using it a couple months ago it's good stuff and it smells it smells so good all right the bottom one's usually more rusted than the top we're good we are golden knock on nasty muffler that's probably gonna fall off during this road trip oh that pad is definitely frozen on come on brake pad look at this look at this shiny gold spider looking alien thing dude. This is impressive guy just blends right in with the rust little buddy hey. Why don't you get off. This caliper.

Is he dead you little buddy. No he can't be dead. He just died. Oh.

No it was just alive. I feel so bad rest in peace goldie. I'm i'm sorry dude. All right dude.

I'm so sorry there you go kind of a weird moment on the channel. But i i do feel bad. I didn't i didn't want to kill the guy. Oh.

This piston is going in whoa yes. Wow. All right i just destroyed that brake pad. But the brake pad was already really low.

So. Side being rusted. Together. This thing was worn out.

Oh. Yeah. Oh. You can't go on road trips.

Like this. No. Way. Ew.

The piston is already moving in and yes. All right this caliper is in good shape. Excellent. Let's see if this bracket wants to come on come on yes.

Oh that's a glorious sound. Okay. There's your bracket all right guys. I got to make a quick parts run so i'm taking the shop parts running truck.

My 61 rolls royce. But it's almost out of gas. Oh man this thing is gonna run out so. Luckily.

You think i'm gonna go with three that's two yeah all right nice wow. This is coming apart. Surprisingly well and our shoes are in decent condition. As well sweet.

Oh yeah. These rotors are shot so the previous owner included rear brakes pads and rotors so we just had to buy the fronts just a slight difference between the new and the old felicia. I want that to go by felicia. There's one pad and two pads and a caliper lube this up a little bit and that ladies and gentlemen is an e30 rear brake job well half of it we got to do the other side and only one spider was harmed in the filming of this video.

All right so i'm going to blow this out first before i spray anything because i don't want to kill any more spiders you've been warned spiders. You're killing me. Please break free. Please break free.

Oh. This is too easy this looks really bad. But it's coming apart and after replacing those rusted brake lines. I'm like oh.

This stuff is gonna be a pain usually if it gets that bad and the exhaust is all rotted out this thing was sitting forever usually this stuff is pretty frozen. But we're having good luck so far again. I don't want to jinx myself. So we'll go ahead and knock on totally loose belt.

What is going on here those bolts loose. I think we're going to be home free. So i'll do this one much quicker than the rear bam calipers off pads are literally falling off these are actually in really good shape. Though goodbye caliper bracket.

All right these slides are working. Really well we're gonna go ahead and grease them up a little bit more put some new rubber boots on there too there we go oh this is too easy. These brakes are actually in good shape. We probably could have cleaned these up if we were driving it a little bit more.

But i don't know it's good thing. We're replacing them look at this they even put anti seize on there for us so nice all right one pad in two pads. Plus. A caliper and we even have new hardware all right and this one's done too and overall.

The brakes are pretty easy on an e30 and we've gotten so good that this side's only going to take me a second man. We are good all right so the pads and rotors. All the way around are complete. And we won't be doing a brake blush because i've already done it twice once when we replace this super long brake line that runs all the way to the front of the car and then off camera that one blew up too so i replaced that one all the other ones look to be in decent condition.

So considering that all the calipers move back and forth properly. We are done with the brakes next we got to fix up this super loose belt otherwise we're going to lose it in the middle of the road on the country somewhere. So i loosened up this guy right here. And this one here and this guy here.

And now we can just kind of stick our pry bar. In and put some tension on it all right so while holding tension with the pry bar. We're just gonna go ahead and tighten. This guy up right here there we go so we went from a super loose sloppy belt.

All the way to this with just an adjustment and this belt seems to be in great shape. And you don't want to tighten these too much otherwise you'll start wearing out bearings all right now you know i got to hook. My man tony rose up with an oil change even though i did a synthetic oil change like 10 miles ago or however far i've driven this car which isn't much at all but then we ran 20 gallons of water through the engine and everybody wanted to see what the oil looked like so i've saved it for you let's see okay yeah. It's a little foamy.

It is definitely a little foamy so if you're gonna run 20 gallons of water through your engine which by the way is completely unnecessary we were able to clean the valves up with 20 ounces of water. But if you ever get crazy and really want to experiment then definitely check your oil while you're doing that it'll become milky like this it's inevitable with 20 gallons of water for a little bit of it to make it into the crank case under any other circumstances. I would be very very afraid. Because of what this oil or oil slash water looks like but we know we know what's going on here ew.

It's a chocolate milkshake. A light brown chocolate milkshake with a dark chocolate swirl. Looks delicious actually oh and here's half of the head bolt from the lightning. Which is right there in a million pieces.

Let's see if we get out of this oil filter oh more of the same what do you know if you guys are ever wondering what it looks like if you have an engine oil cooler that breaks and mixes the engine coolant with the oil this is what it looks like this is exactly what it looks like all right let's get all this stuff out of here get out. I'm gonna let this drip. All the way out we'll run some cheap oil in it just to kind of flush. It i'm definitely setting tony up with a second oil change.

So after a few hundred miles of driving. He can change it again and make sure. It's perfectly clean all right. I ran three quarts of cheap conventional oil through this just to kind of flush.

It out a little bit. And we got all of that stuff out and so now we're filling it up with the good stuff some 5w40 amsoil synthetic european blend this is really good stuff. I run on all my euro cars. All right well as much as i love these gold bbs wheels with 20 year old tires.

I found these on facebook marketplace. They was asking a hundred and fifty dollars and peter. The ultimate negotiator got them down to one hundred dollars legit street car negotiator that's right so these are the original 14 inch bottle cap wheels that came on an e3325i uh so pretty cool that we found these and for a hundred dollars and the tires are only six years old so 14 years newer than these and for what we're doing for this adventure trip. I think they're gonna work out just fine because these probably would have blown up.

But i'm still giving them to tony rose because they're too cool. He can have these redone new tires and this thing would be looking mighty 80s. I mean look at the tires. These are in such good condition no dry rot whatsoever.

Oh yeah welcome home welcome home guys we got new brakes new wheels and bird poop. So yeah. The front tires are in good shape. The rear tires not in the best.

They have a lot of cupping and outer wear. But no dry rot they seem to be holding air. So good enough for a town this size and look at how normal this car looks now all right fire in the hole. Are you sure i'm sure we have oil no it's like not doing anything huh.

That is not good well everything yeah. But still that battery's been charging for hours. It's not even giving us a click is this a sign of what's to come. I really hope not oh man you got to be kidding.

Me is there something missing it's in park. My foot's on the break parking brakes off like yeah no this thing should do something what in the world is it a bad starter. I mean this would be a great time to have a bad starter. Better now than in 200 miles.

Yeah. All right i've hooked up jumpers. So let's give it a shot now nothing oh geez all right let's look at the starter. Well the starter doesn't look all that old really well let's go ahead and give it a few whacks.

All right peter give it a shot anything nothing oh man. I looked over fuses and relays and everything is looking good really hard to get the hammer in a good spot here. But anyway. I've been beating on it for like another minute.

All right let's do this peter come on now yes yes good job starter it runs. She's alive it runs pretty good. It's got a little bit of a miss. But then again it still has a lot of the old fuel in it from last year.

And then i put a few more gallons in it again last year. So that's kind of old now too um and they don't have a starter anywhere. So we're leaving tomorrow at five o'clock in the morning no starter. So yeah.

I don't know just bring a hammer. I guess i didn't spill any oil on the exhaust or anything. But we got a little bit of smoke uh. You know nothing too concerning could have been dripping on there from a leak for a while while it's been sitting for the last few months.

I don't really know all right peter shut it off let's see if it's going to restart all right okay. We might have just hit a flat spot. There the starter solenoid. Maybe let me go ahead and give this to you we'll definitely bring a jack and never shut the engine off.

We gotta yeah. We gotta run this thing. The entire time even when we fill up yeah cause it's not manual. We can't bump start.

We can't bump start it no it's an automatic yeah. It's our best friend right. Here. You should put it on a keychain.

So as far as it missing a little bit. We're going to run a little bit of this stuff performance improver and this stuff works miracles on old varnishy fuel that's been sitting around forever. And it kind of cleans everything up as well so at this point. I think that we're sort of low on fuel.

So we'll just go fill it up all right guys. It's 4 30. In the morning right now peter's on his way all right so we're dead and i know this is a diy car channel. But it's a very low tech and low cost solution to making delicious espresso.

Then i just got all over my counter to show you guys just died. I'm guessing. It's a fuel pump fuse they all look good seriously people don't spend two thousand dollars on an espresso machine. These are like 20 bucks.

All right i'm guessing there's something going on here. Yeah. This connector is really hot. My mom got back from italy yesterday and brought us.

Some lavazza espresso. You can get this in the states. As well and she always gets me a gift. Too when she goes back to italy to visit our family la vita alex equella cosa.

Que nicia dopo il cafe basically my life only starts after my coffee see if that does anything oh. If you guys are curious on how this contraption works. You just put your espresso right in this guy fill this with water up to a line that you can see in there drop. It in screw that on there and then don't burn your handle over the stove.

I i did that all right. This isn't going well at all so peter took this home last night after we were done working on it i had to bring the car with the baby seats back home and uh how far did you make it uh well. I drove ten minutes today ten minutes all right so just it just died minutes last night right right so just died out of nowhere. Did it start stumbling or anything yeah.

It just no it went low on power. It was still like idling when i stopped. But it wasn't getting any fuel so all right what'd you figure out um. So it's getting the fuse was good i i couldn't test the relay.

But i for the for the fuel pump for the fuel pump yeah. But then i i checked for power at the at the pump and i cranked it over and the power light came on so i think it's a bad pump well we know why they had that old crusty fuel sending unit in the back. They were having fuel pump issues. I guess.

But it's obviously got a new pump in here. But wow. This thing is pretty i gotta say. This is really loose all right go for it yeah all right.

It's got power. Sometimes you can bring a fuel pump back to life just by hitting it okay all right the battery seems to be okay now right uh. No it's on the jump. It's on the jumper.

Okay all right all right my mom went to italy and uh. She brought back espresso. She's brought back especially from italy from italy. So there you go i put a little bit of coconut cream.

In there. Some cinnamon. Oh yeah pretty good right. Oh.

Yeah. Yeah. Felissimo bellissimo. This this is not bellissimo is it running.

It's running wait. It's running right now. It's running right now get out of here. And what does the fuel gauge say uh well right now.

It's on r. Okay yeah. I mean that that fuel gauge is goofy. Because i put a few gallons in it uh.

But then i drove it like 10 miles like a year ago. So let's just hit the road okay. We and uh we gotta drop my car off which is kind of on the way. But okay so far so good with the hammer saved us twice all right so.

No one has the fuel pump in stock of course. Didn't they make like 50 million of these e30s. This is crazy i know it's old um. But if they had the pump.

I would definitely swap it out because we're only like 15 minutes away from the shop. And i have another car um. But we kind of have no choice and it's running right. Now.

Let's do it let's just do it let's go we want it let's go running let's go a partially bad starter and a bad fuel pump and uh you got the hammer. We got the hammer all right this is nuts but uh okay we're gonna load back up uh drop. My car off we're only 15 minutes away from my house. Too and we'll hit the road so hopefully nothing else happens all right well we're filling up our first fill up maybe that'll make the fuel pump happy um.

I put like five gallons of fuel in this thing like a year ago and drove it like 10 miles so it definitely has fuel in it and performance improver and performance improver. What what is going on so. I don't know uh. It's possible if the fuel pump is going out.

Though if it's got low fuel that it's getting hot or not really i don't know that's not really a thing but anyway we'll get some gas 13 and a half gallons 72 bucks not not bad fuel tank capacity 169 gallons yeah so 17 gallons so it makes perfect sense. I put five gallons in it we drove it maybe like 10 miles a year ago. So it definitely has fuel obviously the gauge is wrong what does the gauge say now hopefully this thing starts. We had the jumper on it before that is a weak start that is a very weak start yeah look at that so we just filled up and it's it's not registering all the way on the tank.

So all right let's uh. Let's reset the uh. The trip here and we'll just fill up i don't know what kind of fuel economy. This thing is getting it might be really bad just fill up after like 150 miles or something like that all right.

This flew off too this is another issue. We had this guy just kind of detached itself. He's like i don't want to go for this ride. Well so far so good it hasn't died out on us.

Yet god that thing looks good all right so far. We got full tank now it's filling itself up and um. Check engine light is flashing getting supposedly 40 plus miles in the gallon anti lock brakes and brake lining and we have coolant so get your bingo cards out log. We have officially extinguished our check engine light our flash flashing checklight.

But brake lighting is still on anti lock is still on coolant is still on how does it feel shaky. Really yeah seriously yeah like from the front end. There's a little wiggle in the steering wheel. Okay.

Um. The back end makes noise. Oh that's the tires. Though yeah.

Probably okay i hope all right tires are good bearings are bad okay. We have extra tires in the back. We don't have extra pairings all right we just got back to home base here to drop the tesla off what was that great in the world was it doing that before or is that new. Oh that's that's the womp womp.

Oh. I thought it was tires. I was hoping oh that is definitely not tires all right well. We have we have a lift this is our last chance.

What is going on here hoping. It's just a backing plate our rolls royce backing plate well peter. We have a fuel leak that's for sure yeah. That is a lot of fun look at this this is the first time you've had the fuel more than halfway since yeah i mean the most i put in it was five gallons just once last year.

And now we filled it up for the first time um. I wonder if it's just a seal at the top something like that i don't know yeah. It's dripping from all the way at the top. So we'll have to see if that's what it is okay well we got a little bit of a line in the rotor.

But no that's nothing this is where they painted it that's where the pad. Contact is uh. Let's see is the other side. Like that.

Oh yeah. No that's the same. Yeah. That's exactly the same all right.

We found the backing plate was rubbing on the back of the rotor. I can definitely do it uh. I think you can definitely do it because this is your side. I didn't do this side did i this was your this was my side check.

The footage all right let's use your error my fault. That's all it is i hope we went over the entire suspension yesterday. And nothing seems to be loose. These control arms are newer.

Even though they look really old i mean they're probably like 10 15 years old. But they don't have any miles on them. According to the previous owner tie rods are good it drives straight as an arrow. We don't have any oil leaks just a little seepage from the rack.

But um. All right let's try and figure out that fuel leak all right so we're just leaving the seat pulled up. I just took the screws back out of this guy um. All right yeah.

I don't know it's it's a little yeah. It's a little wet you know. But i don't really have it this could be it. Too.

This huge hose. Right. Here. Is pretty rusted up.

Oh wow. Okay. I found. It.

We got a hole in the line. Peter. Oh. Yeah.

Yeah. Is that the feed liner or return line. No. It's not the feed line.

Okay yeah. So we'll be all right uh. It's just from us filling it up all the way and slashing around it's got to be yeah. Okay.

This is totally normal guys all right so. What do we got going on here peter. We got potentially bad starter yep. Okay potentially bad get your bingo cards out.

Yeah you got a bad starter bad fuel pump yep bad battery yep uh hopefully that noise in the back is fixed. We have an active fuel leak with a hole in a fuel line. Yeah is that it well we got like check engine light on stuff uh. Check.

Engine light. Which could be the hole. Oh no no the check engine light. Stopped so take that off all right cool check engine light stop um.

But we do have a coolant light. Oh what the coolant level light. But it's the temperature gauge. Is okay.

Oh. I didn't know that is that new. Yeah okay. It's in the uh.

Little upper okay. I got a coolant light on so anyway are you ready. Yeah. Yeah.

Let's do it okay. That's fixed not making any noise at all totally not my fault at all good job on those breaks peter all right last chance peter to bail. I think we're in it we're in it to win. It hey buy a house hopefully i make it back to you soon.

We're trying to drive back today. So it's like i think five hours each way. And i rented a a car to drive back. So we just need to make five hours.

Bmw. That's all five hours. Please all right. We're getting on the highway.

It's uh downtown chicago rush hour traffic. Okay all right. I guess we're going. 20 for a long long time i have always wanted a 15 passenger.

An svt lightning. That's got the exact bed cover that i want our gas gauge keeps on going back and forth. But it does show a full tank now uh. We've gone 21 miles.

We're not overheating. It's flashing check at me e30 guys. What does that mean also what are what are these what's the green yellow and red. What what is that we have a brake lining and abs light on not really sure why we both have our seat belts buckled.

But we got a seat belt warning light and our coolant light is on so overall. We're doing pretty good yes. Oh. That's a driver that's awesome just some dude driving to downtown chicago in his svt lightning that is so cool just two guys driving an e30 with a leaking fuel tank about 10 different lights bad fuel pump that starter bad battery hasn't been on the road for 12 years nothing to see here folks nothing to see here.

Oh look at this combo. Oh chicago off roading right. There. A couple gigantic potholes in the middle of the highway makes sense all right we've made it past downtown chicago.

So now we can actually go a reasonable highway speed comment down below. What's your favorite city skyline. I've always thought chicago definitely has top three worldwide. All right we're coming up to good old garfield boulevard.

I used to get off there for work every day for the last five years fixing police cars for the city of chicago. So welcome to englewood everybody and we're going 70 miles an hour. The wheel is off a little bit. But it doesn't shake everything looks to be going really well knock on steering wheel.

Another question for you e30 people what does this button do it's not labeled. But you can't press. It and it will stay down what is this and we do have cruise control on this car. And let's see is it working.

Oh yeah. My foot is off the gas. It's holding it i don't really know how to go faster. But oh there we go look at that we're going faster.

The body you have any windshield problems all right we're crossing into indiana comment down below. If you're from indiana half and half out. We are 92 miles into this trip. And it finally doesn't smell like fuel in here.

Anymore. Which is really nice. It never smelled like fuel to me. Why oh wait oh.

You don't you still don't have your smell. Do you yeah ever since i got really sick that uh you know a couple years ago. I just no smell anymore and i wonder what that was yeah. It was real weird real weird got real sick all right guys everything's going good.

We're able to cruise at like 75 miles an hour. No problem um. But at 134 miles. We're starting to get a new smell peter.

What does that smell like to you air. Air smells. Like oh. Yeah.

Right here. It can't smell uh. It smells like brake lining it smells like brake pads um. I'm not getting any drag or anything like like you know one of the calipers is sticking really bad.

But i'm definitely getting a whiff and i don't think it's the same at first i thought it was a semi truck and now we're free and clear from them and we're getting some kind of smell. But yeah. No dragging we should probably stop and check it out though all right. It's really not that bad as i slow down it it's it goes away.

So i'm just gonna keep it around the legal speed limit. Which is what i do all the time anyway so we'll slow down. It's gonna take a lot more than that e30 for me to pull over all right we're getting a lot more of the brake pad smell and this one is just a little bit hotter than the rest of them. So.

This is where that noise was coming from so we're using a super high quality bmw jack to lift this guy up why is the engine still running uh well pick your poison peter bad battery bad starter the fuel pump is currently spinning right now and i don't want to give it a chance to think about what it's doing so if you guys ever have to pull over on the shoulder. It's obviously a pretty dangerous thing to do make sure that you're buy some semi trucks. So we have one there and one up there it's nice to kind of be pretty close in between them something like that they're just way more visible obviously than your car. I mean i hate to say.

But it's kind of a barrier of defense against someone that's maybe drifting off the side of the road all right. So yeah. This thing is really really hot uh and i kind of stuck my finger in the other wheel there and it's not nearly as bad. But the rotor looks perfectly fine uh.

The heat shield's not rubbing. I don't even know if that was ever the problem um. We don't really have too much time to like think about what's going on and i'm gonna go ahead. And assume that the caliper is sticking wouldn't be the weirdest thing in the world.

What's nice is we've gone like about 150 miles. And it's just gotten bad at this point. So. If the caliper is sticking.

I don't believe it's that much so what i'm going to do here is i'm going to compress the piston by pushing it in just like if we were doing a brake job. We're just putting a little bit of a gap there between the pad and the rotor because the pad is always somewhat engaged. But there shouldn't be a lot of pressure applied to it otherwise you're stopping the vehicle. But when you have a sticking caliper.

It's engaged too much so right now we can see here that inner pad is loose. We'll kind of push the entire caliper out a little bit as we do this and yes. As soon as you hit the brakes. This will compress back.

But again we've gone like 150 miles so far and it's just starting to get bad um. So we have all highway after this i don't think. This has a shift interlock or it doesn't work where you have to hit the brake in order to get into gear. So i'm just gonna go right into drive and i mean yes we will need to use the brakes at some point um.

But the whole point is you know just making it there it'll buy us another 50 100 miles. Yeah. It might buy us some more miles. If we have to stop and do this a few times.

That's what we got to do all right yes we're gonna torque the wheels guys in my other videos people are like you didn't torque the wheels. I'm like i also didn't film myself going to the bathroom like i don't film everything torqued them a few times in the videos. But i do it every time no matter what all right here's our trunk tools and parts setup of course we have our factory bmw sheepskin seat covers we have the sonic tool backpack this thing is awesome by the way guys. I will definitely leave you a link.

But you can organize all your tools in here. They have special slots for everything. And it's got a plastic platform. So it stays upright.

This is a phenomenal tool bag and then of course a bunch of fluids. We have a timing belt kit. That we never did and uh jumper of course many jumpers. We got our tire plug kit our portable tire inflator we got a peter and let's take a look at the condition of our engine.

Right now uh. So no smoke or anything that must have just been residue burning off on the manifold sounds. Great no misfire. No sticking valve.

I definitely think this thing is cleared up just from driving it 150 miles everything seems good. I'm overall pretty happy with the e30 right now all right this started to come apart again it felt so secure. When i did it on the road. While we were driving yeah totally normal.

I didn't get down here. Though so that's probably it all right tony rose. You might have a few scratches here. But it's overall in pretty good shape uh.

We've stopped for fuel. It's been uh about 200 miles now and i think we're good yeah. We're at like. Five i'm not gonna fill it up all the way we got 59.

Gallons in here the fuel smell went away. I think after like 60 ish miles or something like that so we won't top. It up all the way so we don't get that spillage and speaking of fuel let's go check out if we have our leak. Still yeah so the fuel leakage has stopped completely.

It's bone dry now so yeah. If you fill it up too much it'll leak out of you know the hole that we have in the line of the tank. I mean who would have thought peter's fixing the trim for the third time kind of just crimping it in a little bit better because it keeps on popping out um and we accidentally shut the engine off so you know you might have to use a jumper or a hammer. You have a lot of a lot of cross fingers.

Yeah here we go let's see oh yeah. That's strong that 150 miles it it fixed the battery juiced it up it juiced it up that's all i needed you got to drive your bmw people you can't just let it sit for 10 to 12 years well we just stopped in and got a gigantic drink. I have my legit street cars yeti also very large there's no cup holders in here. I don't think unless something happens with the center console.

Oh oh. What is that are you kidding. Me. I don't know if this can handle the weight.

Oh yes. Or the set. Okay. This is totally safe you can trust this you can definitely.

Hi jeez. Yeah. Will we make it all the way to dayton ohio. Without these spilling.

Yeah. Just added. A level of complexity. Here comes.

The slamming into gear. Yeah. Oh yeah. And oh come on don't hit the brake.

Don't hit the brake. All right all right yeah. We're we're trying to be very gentle with the brakes conserve the brakes. We haven't smelled anything well peter doesn't smell anything.

But i haven't smelled anything i haven't smelled anything in months so far so good on uh the old brake caliper fix that we did back there all right we got peter driving now and he just noticed that our brake lining light is gone. So all we did was uh push that one pad in a little bit that side. Didn't even have a sensor on it and we did replace the brake pad sensors when we did the brake job and i don't know it's gone. I'm gonna take it still got the coolant light.

Still got the check thing flashing at me no check engine light though and our temp gauge is solid. All right here. We go find it right here find our rental car in ohio. Oh.

We got a cop. We're going speed limit. What is the speed limit here. I have no idea.

I think. It's trucks are going fast. Yeah they're going fast. We're good what in the world is that is that something off a spaceship that's probably not at all uh people out there of the world.

What are we looking at that is really weird all right we're getting a really weird noise. So we just pulled over in a parking lot okay. This fuel pump just got really loud. You hear that oh man this sounds.

So bad. It has got to be the fuel pump. Yes yes. It is definitely the fuel pump.

Oh this thing is screaming. It's screaming oh man. We just got we got to take off luckily we're only 10 to 15 minutes away from tony's house. So i just went to the budget rental car to pick up an economy car.

I just got the cheapest one that they had but they ran out of cars. And they gave me this a 300 s. So they're like we didn't have time to clean. It they're like you want to wait a couple hours.

I'm like no no no i'm good i will take it as is so peter is driving over to tony's but he won't be seen by tony i'm gonna pull up in this rental because tony just thinks that i'm passing through and i'm gonna drop off some merch for him as kind of a consolation prize since i totally messed up and he didn't actually win the car so that's what he thinks i'm just dropping murch off in this rental. And i'm just passing through and then peter is gonna drive up in the e30 and then we'll commence with the surprise but let me commence with starting the engine on this bad boy 42 000. Miles um. You know it's a it's a chrysler product it's it's okay.

But this is nice this is a really nice car i got for the price of an economy car it's 100 by the way for just a one way trip back to chicago. So i've just rented this for the day and it was 100 bucks. I think they actually charge you more for one way less than a minute away come on don't die on me. This is getting nuts.

Oh. I'll make it come on you got a little guy all right so i'm parked a block away from this house and it's just going nuts. Okay. Peter won't answer his phone.

Luckily he sent me an address that he was at which i just went to down the street and he wasn't there he just text me that some girl was freaking out or something you got an electric uh e30. There that's a conversion. It's a conversion. Okay someone freaked out on you know.

The pump is freaking out. Oh. Okay. Let's um let's get actually really close to tony's house.

I'll do the next the next cul de sac. Okay. I'll follow you oh there goes. There.

It goes is it mostly when you're. Just. Idling. Yeah.

Yeah. Oh. That is not good. Yeah.

Oh. That fuel pump is struggling. It's lived a rough life. I think.

It's actually pretty new um anyway. Tony's house is uh just a couple houses over there. This is perfect there's like a hill blocking so he won't be able to see the car is parked right here. The issue is peter we got to shut this thing off.

We can't let it run because we might be a while so you think it'll restart you can always push it yeah. I guess. That's the better question can we push it over here and in there prop. Probably there.

We go this could be it okay sounds better now all right just text tony that we're two minutes away. And we're pulling up in a white chrysler 300 s. So his car is very very. Close to his house.

Hey tony. What's up tony personal merchandise delivery for you sir. Thank you nice to meet you nice to meet you too so i got you some e30 stickers. I know it's not the car.

But it's you know it's nice we got a legit three cars hat yeah and a legit street car sure awesome thank you so we're just you know driving through. I know it's been a long time since the giveaway. Yeah. And i i do apologize oh no no worries.

I felt so bad did i explain to you what happened. Though yeah. And i actually have talked excel you've taught excel so i failed that class. I know the whole thing with the the top row being because yeah students make that mistake all the time.

Yeah. So i was never taught excel. I needed an excel teacher like this. But basically.

I had a friend make the excel spreadsheet because we got so many donations that there were thousands of lines. So for every five dollars that you donated to the national. Ms. Society you got one entry so for example.

If you bought you know twenty dollars worth. You'd have four entries so then you might end up at line well in this case. It was you were lying 4 000. And like 10 through what you know whatever so i picked 4015 on the excel number line that showed up as tony.

But it really wasn't it was four thousand uh. It was someone else so that was the mix up and i felt so bad because as soon as he won or i thought he won i emailed him and he got back to me like instantly and that never happens. And he's like oh my gosh. I'm like you know you you said you you're into bmw right can we can we see yeah all right what do we have what do we have all right no modifications on anything yeah.

You like everything stocked yeah. Everything starts. Well the 325i would have been perfect. It's totally stock outside of some bbs wheels.

But when i was doing my research you could get the factory. What are they called the bottle cap wheels peter you get factory bottle cap wheels for like 100 bucks and then you know that thing you know it all it's got good bones. You know. But it just it would be like a cool rolling like a fun project that you could actually drive all the time yeah so if you did get the 325i.

What were your what were your plans gonna be with it well are you still looking for like an older project well. I i just kind of like um old bmw. That's something i've not experienced. Yeah.

You know um. It was my first go around well. I kind of i looked at um like how expensive. It would be to manual swap it because i haven't had a manual transmission car for a long time yeah well you can yeah you can buy them in manual.

Too um. Although the automatics are pretty stout. But yeah it would be more fun would you take care with it yourself do you do you do that kind of stuff. Yeah.

Yeah. So you know i've got quickjacks and right here. Oh nice well. I'm gonna i'm sure do more of the you know i do a couple car like giveaway things every year.

And it's really weird being the ms society. Since you know i've had. Ms. Uh.

That's what you were saying yeah you've had it since 2009. Right you said yeah. It's it's it's been a long time yeah. We have a family member with ms.

As well we raised 54 000. Dollars dollars from that e30 so that car it's done a lot of good you know already so i was blown away i set the original goal. I think at like five grand. I'm like just about i think the car's worth like five or six grand.

I'm like i'll just set the goal at the car fifty four thousand dollars five dollars in entry straight to the ms charity and it was cool experience. Except when you don't have an excel teacher. Like this you don't want to do excel then you you know anyway. Consolation prize.

This is a pretty sweet garage well thank you absolutely to me it seems um like so far from what i want it to be. Oh yeah um. But i'm also thankful for what i do have. But do a lot of the houses around here looks like that one's got a three card.

See. Peter secretly wants to live somewhere around here. Really you know i'm moving. Yeah.

I actually want to like look at it are you going to go walk. Yeah go ahead go ahead. If you want to say there's actually houses for sale in the area. All right.

This is a 2012 and this is a 2014. Okay nice. I'd like some advice on this yeah. Um.

I know that valve stem cells are the big thing with these. Yes. They are do you see any smoke out of the tailpipes. When it's idling.

There's a little bit okay um. And when you accelerate on the freeway. You get a lot. Okay all right we're good.

We're good. We're good just get it over there get it over there all right he's right over there. I'm gonna see him in a second well the first thing. I would do to to definitely make sure you know one or the other is i would inspect the uh.

The turbo itself so i would look at the front side and the back side. It's just kind of weird. Because the um. Oh.

What is this oh. My goodness. What is this what are the chances. What happened is the car is yours tony rose.

The car is yours that is awesome. It is quite it is quite the uh story which i will tell you and the audience here though well. I mean. There's really not much to it other than what you guys already know i picked the wrong winner live.

I picked tony uh. But the real winner. I i emailed him obviously afterwards and i told him he won the car and he was excited whatever and then i thought about this and tony already told me his whole story. He had ms.

He's a bmw guy. I'm like this is so perfect so i just figured i'd ask uh. I called up the other winner and i you know i offered him some money to not accept the car and and he and he took it and it was a big deal because i didn't offer him as much as i think the car is worth especially now. I mean i've had the car for like a year.

But prices have gone up and he took it knowing that he probably just could have sold the car and and probably had more money so he understood the story. Too so a couple of really good subscribers. Kind of helping each other out that have never met each other ever well that's that's so that's amazing yeah so i know it's been it's been a few months. But i wanted to personally drive the car to you here in dayton ohio.

And i just haven't had the time with all the other projects and we wanted to do a few more things to it to make the trip. And we made it we made it like 400 miles wow. Yeah. So mechanically.

It is okay. As you will see in the video. Well we had we had some issues along the way. But it is here and it runs that was another reason.

I didn't send you the merch was i'm like i want to this is my whole story because when he emailed me back after. I told him he didn't actually win the car. He was so nice. He's like i totally understand no hard feelings and then he's like and so i said hey just send me your address and i'll get you some merch.

So that was kind i was going to do it. But that was kind of a ploy to get your address to come out here and give you the car you want to check it out let's check it out all right cool all right so. If you've seen the videos. Then you know how i got this.

It was abandoned for like 10 years. Someone gave it to me for free um. And that person brett's father. The day.

I announced the giveaway actually passed away so. Brett contacted. Me uh you know he had his father at ms. As well um and let me know how important and special.

It would have been for him to have seen me give this car away anyway. I'm very grateful that i was able to give it you know to give it to you oh hang. On let. Me show you something oh wow.

Yeah. So even aside from everything that i did to get it to run and drive properly brett the previous owner who here's here's the title for you he gave me a stack. Because him and his dad had this car forever and look at all this stuff. So we have receipts up the yangyang.

Some of these are from like the 90s. I think so a lot's been done to the e30 and it runs and drives beautifully the engine doesn't miss the transmission is spot on um. It doesn't overheat. But anyway.

There's a few little like easy diy parts that this car needs. But it's like a running and driving project that's not rotted out. I think. It's pretty cool oh.

And we put the bottle. We put those wheels on yeah. So yeah. Yeah.

I thought the wheels. Looked different. Yeah. Yeah.

Yeah. So i like doing a little bit of uh. Paint and body. So i definitely want to um look at making some spot repairs.

And see if i can actually blend it in i am not an expert at all on that it's one stage paint. Though so it's really easy to blend other than that be really awesome to have that with a manual transmission. It's been a long time since i've driven a car with a manual and that's something that i kind of miss. I mean honestly a little minor exterior restoration.

The interior is basically done a couple little mechanical things and a manual swap and you're done. That's all that's all you need that's all you need well i'm seriously very happy that you got the car doing the whole. Ms. Charity and then having you receive the car just means a lot um.

So i hope i hope you enjoy it yeah. I think i think i definitely will so one of the things with ms. Is that you don't remember dates. Real good okay so you know like when i responded to your email.

I actually looked up kind of when i first had symptoms because that's one of the things that you lose is some of your your ability to sort of track okay dates. And things of that nature. Oh in that case. The email was just two days ago.

So we're here on time it's not four months later. I was like really stressed at one of my previous jobs. My left side of my body went numb and i was having a lot of headaches you know i just had a car wreck very very very minor car wreck and i thought that was all related you know i went 10 years after that or maybe a little bit longer and really you know didn't have anything else. But then the opposite side of my body went numb.

The other thing you'll notice that when you talk to me is that i'll say several things and then i'm i'm pausing. I'm waiting for to try to figure out a word this could be a really really common word and that's you know one of the things that happens with ms. My ms. Is in the corpus callosum.

So it's the two sides of your brain. And so if i'm trying to do something i really have to focus on that if i were walking and you said something to me. It's like i can't process those two things simultaneously so can't walk and chew gum right um. That's i don't think i can do that either so so i'm i'm i'm doing good right now all things considered ms.

For some people is a lot worse than i have it so i always try to keep that in mind and tony can you let people know like what kind of treatment or medication is there or is there i mean we raise all this money for charity and a lot of people always wonder like what happens that money where does it go in this case. I know it goes into research on curing ms. But are there ongoing treatments. There's a lot of different treatments.

Now and you know i'm kind of on the fence right. Now about like switching to a different uh medication. Because there's just a lot of new things that have come out recently traditionally done um shots um. But you don't have to do shots.

Now so there are peels that you can take you look great you're gonna look even better cruising this thing around and shifting gears one day so i'll definitely keep you guys updated on tony's progress with the e30 uh on instagram facebook and on youtube. I'm at legit streetcars everywhere um. So you gotta send me pictures that's all i ask i'll do that i'll do all right cool. We're going to get this rental back to chicago.

I'm like no and then the next day and the next day and then the well the worst part is we were must have been emailing at the same time you sent me the oh. My god i'm so happy email like at the same time as i'm writing the. Oh. My god you really didn't win email and i'm like this is horrible so yeah.
