If you're in the market for a rebuilt title Tesla or you want to rebuild a salvage Tesla from the auction there's a lot you need to know. Tesla has changed many of its policies recently and it may surprise you on how limited these cars can be. I still love my 2015 P85D that we rebuilt after it was totaled by the insurance company but it's not like owning a normal Tesla. Rich Rebuilds helps out with this one as he knows a thing or two about wrecked Teslas so enjoy and I hope this helps you out.

Y should Tesla give a dam on the fact if car is salvage or not it doesn’t effect them. I still think Tesla is a great idea. there not for everyone. This will definitely give Tesla a bad name.

Supercharging can easily be re enabled … And even enable FREE supercharging on the older cars. But guess these guys alrwady know this hut dont wanna get sued for reporting on the info 👀

I accidently bought a Model 3 from Copart and I got lucky for the most part, there wasnt too much damage. But walking into a Tesla service shop was like you killed someone. With their God like complexes from the Tesla employees, getting parts and service was less than stellar. The experience was horrible. I was able to Supercharge for 7 months until recently, when I scheduled a visit with mobile service to replace a part. Immediately after Supercharging was taken away. I honestly belive had I not had Tesla service it, I would still be Supercharging today. Of course the tech denied it and said they dont have the ability to do that, but that total bullshit. Anyways, i really dont see myself using Supercharging since I dont really need the car for long distance driving, but it was nice to know it was there. I can get it recertified but I dont really see a need for it. I get all their policies, but there is no excuse for poor customer service.

Well if you do what I do. I am retired and just drive around town with my model Y and only do charging at home. Buying any kind of shape Tesla is a no brainer.
That is too bad that Tesla has that power to reject super charging on any Tesla product for long trips, rebuilt or not. But I guess that is the way the world turns. They want you to only get their Tesla's fixed by Tesla and more and likely charge us two arms and one leg to get them fixed or inspected and approved.
Thanks for the video and take care.

I bought a nearly new flooded model 3 with a salvage title. There really wasn’t much wrong with it but the car computer has gotten wet and didn’t function 100%. The car computer holds the VIN and mileage so you really can’t replace it yourself, I took it to the service center and had them finish the car and program some keys. Short story long, they performed a “salvage title vehicle inspection” in which they removed and tested the battery and inspected the rest of the car, then they replaced and programmed the car computer. I drove the car for a couple weeks then returned and had the perform the “supercharging test and inspection” and now the car is 100% and supercharges fine. If you don’t want to pay the money for Tesla to test and inspect the car then fine but don’t complain that your car won’t supercharge. There is a way to get it back but you gotta pay.

Didn't tesla changed the policy recently, that allows salvaged to super charge?

  9. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars myron chrisp says:

They voided my warranty for my tesla, I've been supercharging since I bought it and it's clean title. Tesla said, if I get an ExperAutocheck performed , send the report for the correction of the account.

  10. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Lee wells says:

It is actually possible to super charge a salvage or rebuild tesla, if you can access To a fairly new Tesla, you can actually copy their IP address and providing do you know how to program your car properly you can switch its IP address to a non-blacklisted Tesla, then when you plug in the super chargeable, think it’s a non-blacklisted car and allow your charge.

  11. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Siloghost says:

    Is this still happening today?

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Red Line says:

And people still buy these crap cars with crap policies.

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars LegitStreetCars says:

Do you think Tesla is doing it right by removing supercharging from all Salvage Teslas?
