In this video, I fix 2 cars for the price of 1. Ok, that makes no sense but you know what I mean. I fix the overly complicated and dumb cooling system on my V8 E39 and the bizarre air conditioning and ignition system on my 1961 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud 2. This will be the last video on both the cars so let me know in the comments which one you'd rather have if money was no object.

That is not good. Yeah. That doesn't sound good rolls royce is definitely misfiring misfiring doing the old rolls royce misfire hood shake because that's a thing hey welcome back to legit street cars in this video you get a two for one special because we're gonna be fixing two of my broken cars today one of which is right here it's my 2001 bmw 540i and this wasn't supposed to make it into any more videos i thought i was done after the last one. But it's an old bmw and the water pump decided to go out the day after filming.

So we got to fix that and this will be the final video on my 1961 rolls royce silver cloud 2. We will be fixing all of its remaining mechanical items including a misfire an exhaust leak. Some other leaks and who knows what else we find and then both of these cars will be listed as a no reserve auction at modsandmilescom. Which means that they're live right now by the time.

I'm releasing this video. It means that these cars are both done. And you guys can click on the link down below and bid on these vehicles or just follow along or if you're watching this video way after it came out these things are probably sold already. So you can see how much they sold for in the past auction history section of mods and milescom.

So with that let's get straight to work. I don't really know which one i'm going to start with let's go with the rolls all right guys so we already serviced these when i first bought it but this is kind of cool. It has these dampeners on the carburetor and you actually have to fill them with engine oil and then you can feel these plungers kind of going down in there. And there's two of them so here's the second one looks exactly the same.

But you got to make sure these have oil and it's a serviceable item. It's kind of weird that the carburetors have a reservoir of oil on them. But they do now back on the driver's side. Something that i've already fixed was the choke.

So we had a choke that was sticking and this thing would just puff black smoke out of the tailpipe and so we've already fixed that and now it is perfect. It springs right back into place and we haven't had any issues in months. So that is done. But when we start this thing up it has a miss yes.

It's really bad sometimes it'll kind of clear up you can hear the exhaust. That's just the exhaust banging around under there we gotta get that fixed too. But yeah. It just doesn't run well at all sometimes it runs okay and sometimes it runs like this.

And i'm gonna say there's like a little tapping it sounds like an ignition issue and that's definitely where we're gonna go first with this so we're just kind of looking around it's better if it's totally dark. Oh did you see that yeah right there right there right there we got an ark. We have a spark we have electricity that's it that's awesome. It's like little fireworks in there all right so that has definitely got to be a spark plug wire it is it i'm gonna burn myself i'm gonna burn myself oh look at that it is right on the exhaust okay all right let's uh.
Let's try and get this off and we'll see what's going on here there we go got that spark plug wire off all right grab. This guy. Oh yeah. Oh it's crispy yep.

It is crispy. All right so we were the last ones to do the spark plugs out in georgia drove it a few hundred miles like this we must not have secured this one properly. And it is shot. Oh.

This is bad all right well the rolls engine is too hot to work on at the moment. So we're gonna cool that down and move on to the e39. It's kind of nice having two broken cars to go back and forth on all right let's get this beauty cover off and then we'll go ahead and remove this intake tube just get that out of the way as well. It's probably going to make life much easier okay.

So you can see here that we have a little play in the pulley here. And so the water pump is starting to eat itself alive. So we caught this at a perfect time it just started doing this and i knew exactly what it was right away so how good is this tool alex uh. This tool sucks.

I pointed this out in one of the other e39 videos where we do a bunch of repairs and i had to take the fan off. But this is not a good tool. I got it on amazon. I'll leave you a link to the good one because after that video came out and i mentioned how horrible it was people let me know which one to buy supposed to hold two of these bolts.

So you can turn this and it just doesn't fit very well. But we'll get it to go wow. This tool is just the worst now this is slipping off all right let's use one of these i have a 32 mil. That's all you really need so both parts of the tool are not made very well.

Uh peter. What was that snap ah are you kidding. Me. This is the worst tool known to mankind.

Peter was giving. It a try. It was kind of frozen for me. And the tool literally just snapped off excellent okay so i definitely do not recommend doing this especially.

If you want to keep your water pump. So this is very very bad for the water pump. But if you're replacing your water pump. Anyway and you break your tool you could i guess do this if you want see that there you go so now we have broken that loose and we can spin our fan clutch on and stay tuned for later in the video.

When we figure out how to tighten this guy back up without the proper tool. All right before that i got to show you some cool cars that are for sale on mods and milescom. I'm kind of addicted to looking at cars on this site 79 supercharged camaro. It's only at 6 900.

Bucks. It's a 48 000. Mile ws6 trans. Am with a six speed manual.

It's only at 7 000. Here's my 335i that just sold they got 62. 000 for this. Rs3 this ridiculous c63 sold for 855.

But you got to check out this 2007 328 xi. This is a turbo ls swapped six speed manual transmission bmw wagon and this swap is so cool look at this engine there are dyno videos and walk around videos and everything on mods and milescom. This is such a cool build here's a one owner supercharged yukon denali. And it's totally free to sell a car and you can get financing and set up shipping right from the website.
So i'll leave a link down below. This is a cool new enthusiast auction site. That all of you guys should be watching. Oh and mods and miles is doing a 500 gift card giveaway and it's totally free to enter just follow mods and miles on facebook.

And on instagram for one entry to win. And you're gonna get two more if you make a free account at mods and milescom. And an additional three entries. If you create a free bidders account.

So they're going to announce the winner on facebook. And on instagram august 13th. So good luck all right get this belt out of the way. And some pretty good condition all right so we got this hose off of here.

And now this guy should come out there we go all right there we go there are a decent amount of things that get in the way of doing this water pump. This was one of them so i got all the bolts out all right so we just gotta pry. This guy out there. We go.

It's starting to move put the drain pan under there there we go all right. I'm just gonna shimmy. This guy out it kind of goes behind the crank pulley. The flange of the water pump.

And there are two bolts down. There is impossible to show you guys. But they're very difficult to get to but don't worry you don't have to take the crank pulley out just going to do a little dance. These tubes don't help either they are very long.

The fan shroud being out of the way would be nice too. There's a lot of a lot of not smart stuff going on here. You definitely want these tubes to stay in the engine. So let's go ahead and see if we can make that happen right now okay.

There's that one okay there we go there we are okay. Old water pump is out there we go that's the failure right there so once you start seeing this happen you want to go ahead and replace this pump right away. Because it can completely come apart and then send metal and particles throughout the entire cooling system. And we haven't gotten to that point yet so that's good i have to remove the intake manifold because of these tubes.

So this is one of the tubes here and it goes in here. And as you can see this is very crusty and not good looking the o ring is flattened as well so i'm just going to go ahead and imagine. That's what the other end looks like and that other end as you can see these things are really long. I can't even get this one out of here that other end is all the way in there.

So yeah we got to remove the intake. All right first things first. We have a couple brackets to remove all right get this guy out of the way we have to take these bmw valve cover covers off and there's just a couple of bolts and then it just pulls off like so and the reason we need to do that is we need to move this entire chunk of harness that goes to the injectors and the coils and to move that out of the way so we'll just connect each one of these kind of wish. I knew of this problem when i did the valve covers because i had this stuff taken apart anyway.
But it wasn't making noise. Then all right there we go all right so now this will move out of the way. We'll have to do the same to that side as well. But it's a start oh and let me tell you these connector clips right here are a pain in the butt.

Because you really can't get to them here. I'll show you on this side. You can't really see anything and it's right there see that shiny clip right there you have to pry that out on each one of them they're buried and once you can get them off just a little bit you can pull this up and a lot of times. They stay with the injector like that so make sure to fish those out along with a random hose clamp.

That's probably been sitting there for years all right let's get this one out there we go all right so now we can kind of sort of pull these things out of the way. There's still a lot connected to them all over the place. But at least now we can manipulate them and get the intake out i guess i've never done this job before it doesn't look fun. Though.

Here's something we can disconnect yay. I disconnected a connector here one at the alternator. So now this guy can kind of just lay over here and we'll disconnect this too. And we'll pull this guy out.

As well just give us a little bit more room this part of the harness here is going down into the depths of the bmw bermuda triangle. So i'm not going to mess with that this is good enough. We got everything pretty much out of the way for this intake to rise above all right at this point. We're going to loosen up all of the nuts here for the intake manifold and i believe we can just take this out with the fuel rail and everything so we have to disconnect the fuel line from the rail and this is actually a nice setup.

It's like bmw. Gives you a special tool that just kind of pushes in and that's it so with all of them loose. We can go ahead and hit them with the gun. This bmw wanted to help me at all nothing else would get in the way of doing this water pump.

This is ridiculous come on now all right this should come out there we go oh shoot. There's another tube. There's another tube. What is wrong with you yeah we got this tube.

Here that's holding us holding this in what in the world. Oh no oh. That's it oh there we go okay okay. So there's a tube on the inside that was hanging us up.

But yeah. I'm glad this happened to me. Because i was just about to list this thing and sell it and this would have definitely gone bad for the next guy um. And uh.
I'm happy to take care of it for you whoever you are that's gonna own this car. Um alex yeah. So supercharger no no no we're selling no supercharger. We do have a lightning supercharger left over every time.

An intake comes off an angel gets its way wait. So where was that tube connected to on here. This little spring loaded thingy what in the world. So is there more stuff.

We got to replace ah there's another seal while we're in there. Do we have to replace this whole thing. We gotta look that up oh man so anyway. This is what we're dealing with this is that big tube that we couldn't get out.

And it slides right into here this slides into that little spring loaded plasticy thing on the back of the intake. And then the other tube. That's right here slides into there so that's why we are removing the intake. Because these are probably very very old yeah they feel horrible let's take a look here yeah.

This is not in good condition at all we would have had a leak or a slow leak. It would have been an issue for the next guy so i'm glad we're doing this and if you look in here. Well that could have been from the hose that was leaking before we do have a lot of coolant. So either way.

This is a nice thing to do for the next guy all right you're gonna get new seals and everything next guy now on a super positive note port. Injection is awesome look at these valves so so clean don't need to do anything with these you can't say that with any of the direct injected bmws that came out later these are sweet you guys got to check out this distributor cap and how these spark plug wires are held in it's very interesting you saw the adventure reveal video of the rolls royce. Then you know where i'm going with this okay. So we just take off a couple screws and then we have to unplug the center coil.

Just like that the wires are just folded over that's how it makes contact with that you just pull this cap off this cap is literally just a plastic cap. It just holds the wires down and with the cap off you literally just pull up on these wires. And they are pierced. So you can see there's actually a hole right into the spark plug wire and there's nothing.

There's no clip at the end of it no 90 degree that snaps in nothing just a hole that's it and there's the spike so we'll definitely clean that up a bit and replace the spark plug wire and when i was pulling it out it just snapped in half. This is where it melted onto the exhaust. So it's just super brittle now unfortunately. I can't find rolls royce specific spark plug wires very easily.

I had ordered what i thought was a direct fit uh and then these came in so. As you can see we would need to cut this end off. Which is fine. We can do that and that's definitely what we're going to do for this repair.

But i'm still on the hunt for the specific ones for this car that are the same length and everything all right so we're literally just going to cut this end off like so there we go all right so i've already replaced and ran these two spark plug wires so they are right here so now i'm just going to clean up these little needles and for that we're just going to use a very soft. Bristled brass brush all right so i'm out of electrical contact cleaner so we're just going to use a little mass airflow sensor cleaner. If anything that's safe on electronics is what we're going for here and i'll blow it off now these are very fragile as you can imagine so i cleaned them up as best as i could. But i don't want to go too crazy with the drill in there i don't think we're having any issues from this area anyway.
But we're just going to use a little bit of dielectric grease on these pins and at this point. We are just going to push this down so i'll just get it started and i don't want to poke my finger. So we'll use the tool here to push it the rest of the way like that there we go all right guys well i replaced a couple of these spark plug wires. But i just don't have enough of them that are the proper length.

And honestly i think this system is a very good candidate to switch over to an electronic ignition. This is the original distributor and everything and i'm not a big fan of the way that those spark plug wires attach in there that's kind of ridiculous. But anyway everything is now routed properly. So let's see what it sounds like i can already tell.

It's much better way way more smooth. Yeah. The engine's not shaking at all look at this that's really nice and look at our hood yep that is still too you can see it against the white. There the white wall that's perfect that is the test that's the official test uh give it a little gas peter yeah right off the idle.

It's beautiful so obviously we still have an exhaust leak right now. We're gonna be fixing that as well. But it is smooth and for such an old engine for such an old setup old technology. It's just a smooth running engine period.

It's beautiful all right so with the engine running well we're about to bring it to the exhaust shop and they also have an ac machine. There so we're gonna play around with the air conditioning. But this is factory air conditioning this whole unit back here is original except the lines have been replaced as you can see it says goodyear. There that's not from 1961.

So little parts of this have been done. But this is how rolls royce ran their air conditioning. It's only in the rear. So right now.

We are reconnecting these tubes right now. We have the blower motor on just to make sure it works before we put the little panel back um. But we have to reconnect the tube. So they make a good seal.

And this is all you get right in here. It blows out there. And there and one of the previous owners also installed some different speakers as well obviously that's not factory um. So we're gonna fix that air leak and then see if we get this ac to work last year.
We hooked up a machine to it over at fluid motor union and it passed the leak down test. But we weren't sure what to put in it and uh. We weren't able to get the fans in the trunk to work properly so now that everything is blowing really strong and i spoke to an older gentleman who sells parts for these cars. He told me we have to charge it up at three pounds.

I think we were going way over that so uh we were overcharged before yeah so we're gonna fire this thing up and we will pay close attention to the gauges. He says. There isn't an exact spec. But just to start at three and kind of go from there all right so let's start this guy up this is so crazy.

But i gotta i gotta come under here and turn the ac on so we're getting a little bit of a knocking noise from the ac compressor which i believe if i remember correctly was normal that's what we had last time. But this is the original ac compressor it may have been rebuilt. But this is in a different style ac compressor which they do sell you can get a more modern ac compressor that will make the ac work a lot better than this but this is what we have to work with so let's see what we can do all right so. We just got three pounds in it and the low pressure is very very low.

We should see about 40 ish uh. The high side pressure. I'd like to see more like 200. It's at 150.

So that's not too far off. But um yeah. I think we're gonna have to go a little bit higher. We'll do another half pound and see what happens so we're using the ac compressor to kind of suck this in that is definitely the sound of the ac compressor and a little bit of fuel here uh.

What do we got okay low side. It's definitely higher now oh they're dropping it's dropping no stop. It's too low going down oh now check it out we do have this is ice cold. This is frost right here on the low side line ac.

Compressor is working all right let's see we got here oh. It's definitely colder than the outside air that is for sure uh it's not freezing like a modern car. But the rolls royce expert that i spoke with said these ac systems just they weren't like what we expect them to be now they just don't perform that well. But this is this is decently cold like it could get cold in here.

So check this out there's a little access hole. So you can get to the rear ac unit. See it says cooler up there so we're on level seven cool you have to adjust that from the trunk. It's kind of goofy oh and look it has a manual gas popper right here watch how this shoots out bam.

That's just for emergencies. It's got an electronic switch right here for the gas. See look at that this is cool so we put another pound in here and you can see it's fluctuating. I have a feeling the ac compressor is going bad it just has little pistons in there they just wear out just like an engine and who knows when the last time that was rebuilt.
So we got a little bit of pressure on the low side. But not much all right so i just turned the ac off so now you don't hear the compressor any longer. But yeah we're getting a little bit back there and that line is getting cold. So maybe.

While it's cruising it might be enough to kind of keep the back passengers cool. I'm not really sure all right i'm driving the rolls back to the shop. This thing is running and driving beautifully and uh. We fixed the exhaust leak already.

But the shop didn't get any footage or call me. When they were starting on it so unfortunately. I'm not able to show you guys that but uh. But i can let you listen to the engine when we get back.

But yeah. I just wanted to show you this this view here guys. It is an absolute pleasure to drive this thing even at 70 80 miles an hour. It's a dream.

The suspension is so so nice and this is what the rolls royce sounds like so really not a whole lot to it they just patched up a little hole in a crossover pipe. But this thing is running good absolutely no smoke nothing out of the tailpipe. It's basically an extra low emissions vehicle look at that and that'll do it for the rolls royce it's all cleaned up we buffed it out in the last video. And it looks absolutely amazing.

The chrome on this car is in excellent condition. It's straight as an arrow. No dents or anything. And now we have the fresh new leather interior as well so it's a beautiful place to be and i've driven this about 80 or 90 miles in the last few days.

And it is a wonderful driver it drives straight the brakes work well it shifts perfectly it's very comfortable the suspension is beautiful so yeah. It's a nice driver rolls royce and it will be for sale now. I just have to go take some pictures of it and that's it it's getting listed on mods and miles. So with that we have to continue with this and the engine was nasty after we took the intake manifold off a lot of cleaning commenced.

So we used some engine degreaser and then a lot of brushes. A lot of elbow grease. Just a ton of work went into this many many hours to get it clean and then we also incorporated the steamer in there a lot of compressed air. You name it we got in there and just cleaned everything up so it went from looking like this all the way to looking like this and it is ready to accept our intake manifold with brand new seals well right after we replace this pipe and this hose.

Right here. As you can see this is an excellent time to replace a hose like this if it fails you're in big trouble you got to take the intake off again. So we're going to go ahead replace that pipe and get our water pump in this mating surface is all cleaned up as well and yeah we can go back together with the e39 and then this too is gonna be an excellent driver before we put this water pump on we are gonna swap out this ac belt. It's in really bad shape look at that so another while you're in there.
But definitely a good one. This thing was going to snap at any moment look at that hello gotta have a british accent german. Though so here's our new belt. Nice and pretty push the tensioner down slide.

This guy on there. And there we go new belt. Okay so this water pump gasket came with the water pump. But i don't really like that one we're going to go with this guy here just a better gasket with this little red ring for extra sealing power.

So we're going to go with this so they give us dowel pins for the water pump. Which is great so we already put the seal on there and before we can install the water pump. We need to install these large tubes. That sit underneath the intake.

And here's one of the o rings that goes into that housing. This wasn't going to last long. So let's dig this guy out as well oh nasty. How did the seal surprise.

There wasn't a leak. There should have been a coolant leak. Now i guess this one's not as bad as the other one but still in rough shape. So i'm just gonna go around in here.

And just kind of clean up some of the rubber goo. We'll get this nice and shiny ready to seal. I'm a big fan of using this big funnel with my shopvac to vacuum little areas. So then you have a very concentrated.

Nozzle and then we can do stuff like this. I'm sure that they make a nozzle attachment for that but uh we're recycling here. It's an environmental channel. All right so i'm just using a little bit of grease.

My mercedes grease that i love to use and i'll load this up okay so we've already cleaned up the end of this pipe. Here there we go that is a nice positive engagement and we'll install this little guy as well and there's just something extra satisfying about replacing a part that's in rough shape. But hasn't technically failed yet because you know you just saved yourself a ton of headache from something that was going to break and cost you a ton of money. But you probably just fixed for a few bucks.

One last part under the intake manifold is this guy here. And it just pops out. And this one has a little o ring right here also another part that's probably likely to fail. So.

The new part is the entire tube with this little spring dealie that we saw there on the intake manifold. So we should be able just to slide this guy back in like that all right so now we can install the water pump. And it just kind of gets sandwiched in between the block and the crank pulley all right so before you bolt the water pump up you have to line up these tubes and get them to slide in so. This is kind of a little bit of a song and dance here to get everything to go.
Because you have to line up the dowel pins on the water pump at the same time. Which is kind of a pain. There we go so you can see there the water pump is flush against the block. Our tubes are properly seated.

Now we can start tightening up all of the bolts in there another. While we're in there is this back cover for the intake manifold this can crack and leak air cause. Check. Engine lights rough running issues and lots of other things so definitely a good part to replace for the next guy you're welcome that part was about 80.

So not too bad while we have this off there we go all right so here's our new one. It's got a new seal on the inside as well uh. This seal is definitely reusable as long as it's still protruding out just clean it up i lubricated it a little bit. And you're gonna be good to go there and now this guy just slides right back on and installs in the reverse order all right you know what there's a lot we can do before this intake.

Manifold goes on that would be easier to do without the throttle body being in this area right. Now so we're gonna go ahead and put our pulley back on the water pump all right so we'll tighten these up a little bit. And we'll do the final tighten. Once the belt and everything's on next up.

We have to reinstall our dual pulleys here that just slides over this stud like so okay get these started. Then we just have a washer and a nut for this guy like so going back in with the other belt. And this one is in great shape. So no need to replace it it had to have been done kind of recently okay with the belt almost on there and routed properly.

I can undo the tension. There we go and the belt is on another failure point on this car. This thing has just too much stuff look at this just too much everything on this e39. Engine can fail.

And they probably do fail and we're replacing quite a bit of these parts. But overall just i don't know if this is the best designed engine in the world of course. We have our new o rings here and we're trying to give the next new owner. A fighting chance at having a nice reliable 540i all right going back in with this tube.

All right we're going back in with our new clutch fan that we replaced a few videos ago and i replaced like 857 individual parts on this car. And not the water pump okay getting this started is always a pain in the butt. There we go all right all right. I just jammed that screwdriver in here okay.

We'll tighten it up there we go all right guys now it's time to replace the intake manifold seals. These are 15 each and probably reusable. But we're putting new ones in anyway just because that's how we are here legit street cars. I like to burn a lot of money on european cars.

Here we go all right. So. There we have it new intake. Seals uh.

The grand total for all these parts by the way was 272 dollars. So i don't remember what our grand total was at the end of legit flip. I think it was 27 something so let's just say now. We're gonna be probably an even three thousand dollars into the 900 uh e39.
Which really isn't that bad at all it's an amazing car for for three grand. All right here we go now. There is this crazy little springy tube thingy that we need to account for all right so you have to spring. It forward.

I don't know if you can i can hold it like this and you can see maybe i gotta say i don't feel 100 with the tube the springy tube. I didn't hear that that satisfying click yeah. It's not oh no the o ring is definitely like pinched and messed up be careful. When you're doing this see the o ring right there.

It is not seated right at all all right so we're going to try just putting this little part on here. So it's seated properly and now we have the tube down here. I'm sure there's a way more proper way to do this experienced 540i guys let us know okay okay all right yeah. I feel.

It's sliding down. All right that makes alex feel good i like that yeah. Oh fuel line. Yeah.

We should probably have taken this that out okay. There we go all right those intake seals on there good everything's good our springy tube's good are you good. I'm feeling good. I'm feeling good too max behind the camera.

How you feeling next is good all right let's bolt her down all right so i put everything back together and now we have some very nice bmw coolant there we go pretty in blue. Only the best only the best for my 900 e39. It's actually a 3 000. E39 and will hopefully sell for at least double that i always thought this guy was pretty cool.

It's a little level bobber dealie. See it's going down. It's going down now where are you one little buddy all right so we're gonna mix this 50 50 with water and uh let's fire it up that sounds so much better no more wobbly water pump no more horrendous grinding noise at start and this engine just sounds beautiful so if you guys remember in one of the videos. We horoscoped inside the oil pan.

I pulled the oil level sensor out we horoscoped and there were no plastic guides whatsoever that's a big failure point with these so i don't have any paperwork that they've been done but i'd imagine at 119 000. Miles and about 20 years that they would have had to have been done at this point uh that was a big problematic issue with these would be the guides and the timing chain uh. But this engine shows no signs of any issues with that no check engine light nothing it runs smooth as glass and now it's gonna cool. It's gonna cool through this glass.

I don't know how it's gonna cool. It's gonna cool like really cold. It's gonna keep it cold. I mean you know operating temperature you know you don't you know what i mean.

It's gonna cool properly all right guys with that i am done with both cars and they are live right now on mods and milescom. So go check them out check out everything else they have on the site as well and i really hope you guys enjoyed this video. We were able to combine two very different projects into one video and finish both of them they will be gone from legit street quarters uh in about the next seven days or so hopefully. The auction ends well uh.
But anyway. If you enjoyed the video give it a big thumbs up share the video with your friends subscribe. If you haven't already and most importantly have an awesome day. I'll catch all of you in the next video you.

When I was a kid our mechanic, Don Bett, had an old Lincoln 2 door, from the 40s. it had aircon in the trunk with vents on the hat shelf behind the back seat. but it had clear plastic tubes that came up along the roof so the air would blow to the front. it also had a power antena. they had some great innovations on cars back then. I also remember seeing a MarkII with electric door latches.

I did a water to 2002 X5 4.4i so same engine certainly didn’t have to take the intake out

The Rolls AC would probably work better with R12 too. I have a 35lb cyl in the garage just in case I get another classic car.

Should have done the valley-pan gasket while you were in there–very prone to failure!

BMW engineers deserve a special award.
Hint ,,It's not a good one.

man you had the intake manifold out, replaced all the gaskets and the OSV, o rings, etc…..but you did not replace the valley pan gasket??? that thing is going to get another leak in that spot they are prone to failure and are definitely a do it while it's out job if it isn't leaking.

If you by ANY used BMW (especially e39 vintage) the FIRST thing you must do is replace the entire cooling system–which includes; water pump, rad, expansion tank, thermostat, hoses, and fan clutch (brittle fan plastic will explode like a grenade and do lots of damage!). Even if everything looks fine, it won't stay that way for very long!

That Ccv valve hose u struggled with is this night mare but I’ve never seen it in two pieces lmao. Mine popped out while trying to do the ccv on my 740i,the o-ring was shot but I ended up finding a nitrile match and somehow managed to push it back in with the CCv valve and never took the intake manifold off ! I lucked out cause it really bother the fawk outta me that I almost had to pull the manifold out.regardless I’d need someone like you to save my car. It was a fun 13k miles so far but it will just have to sit pending reinvestment into it 😂
