And we brought cash money. Come on yo! Thanks buddy! we're not gonna make it back to Chicago There is a slight knock. Okay, okay okay. is this thing full of water? Yes Hey guys, welcome back to legit street cars.
In this video I have Goosebumps because I may be buying a dream car of mine a just an 80s icon that I think is the coolest American 80s car ever made a Buick Grand National and I'm very surprised it's taken me this long. but I've been looking for the right one. something that needs a little bit of work but that isn't rotted out and I think I may have found that in the middle of Wisconsin So we got the whole crew here today. We drove the Tesla to the limits of its range and we're at a storage unit.
We found one that's been sitting in a storage unit for a few years. It's a kind of a mystery car. A lot of unknowns are going on here. Um, but it sounds good.
The owner seems honest and he's meeting us right now in one of these units to go check it out. and we already negotiated a price. If it is what he says it is, this is a killer price. A once in a lifetime opportunity.
So let's go check it out. Good to meet you, Good to meet you foreign Oh my gosh. So I went to bed last night and like I was about to pass out. I'm like hey babe, this might be the last night of not being a Grand National owner and she's like you're so weird Jeff Let me know that the the car has been repainted and the interior was reupholstered and you said it was owned by a long time friend of yours in Colorado right? Okay, it's been in Colorado its whole life.
Oh okay. so I'm the one who brought it up here. so no salt, no salt, they don't use salt in Colorado Um, all right. so this is a 1986 Grand National I Know most people kind of hear of the 87 Grand National and that's because they made about 20 087s.
that was the last year. The 86 and the 87 though are practically identical. Uh, but they only made about 5 000 of these and I think one of the biggest differences is the 86 could have came with an automatic climate control and it had a really high failure rate so they discontinued it for the 87. The 86 had the Chrome accent around the grill and 87 they went all black so this is black so that that's about it.
Other than that, the two car cars are the same, but this is the rarer of the years if that matters. Pretty much all the old cars we buy don't have working hood struts, but here we go: Buick Turbocharged This is the famous turbocharged 3.8 liter. It is Factory intercooled right here, so this is pretty unique because it has a fan attached to the crankshaft that cools the intercooler through this little shroud here, so this engine is kind of a big mystery because it does have some modifications done to it. You can see an aftermarket turbocharger, but Jeff doesn't really have much of the history behind the engine, so we don't.
We don't really know too much about it, so this thing's been sitting here for quite some time, so we don't want to just go ahead and fire it up. We're going to push it out. Make sure that mirror clears. This is seriously a dream come true. Pushing a Grand National out of a storage unit that I might buy. it doesn't get any better than this. For me guys, it's got old Eagle alloy wheels I Had those on my 89 Formula 350 when I was in high school, so unfortunately it's missing the iconic Grand National Wheels but you can still find those used so not the end of the world. Um, but let's take a look here.
I Want to really take a good look at the paint job? You know you just got to look at signs like this when they put the decal on wrong. You know what else did they do wrong? I Guess at that point, that's probably the easiest thing to do when you're painting a car. So it could have also been that they painted the car and left it up the owner to put the badges on. Who knows.
But I am not afraid of a repaint on a car like this because the factory paint wasn't really the best either. It does take away from the collectibility of the car since it's been repainted, but that's not what I'm going for here. I Want a Grand National I Can drive and enjoy. So I'm not super concerned about that.
It doesn't look like they painted the door jambs, which is fine. They probably weren't bad, but really looking in here? Okay, so right off the bat I Do see some rusts. This could be surface rust. Hopefully it is.
but these rockers look very solid. Very nice. So far it doesn't sound like the quarter has been filled. Usually you get kind of a dead spot in the middle and that's because it's got a bunch of filler so you kind of want to hear this hollow sound.
The car is pretty dusty and dirty right now, but so far so good. The paint looks pretty good. Yeah, yeah, definitely yeah. I Don't think they painted the door jambs.
Okay, so yeah, some of this rust here. I'm thinking this is just superficial. I Don't believe this is anything major now. This is pretty solid.
Wow, the floors look really good. Yeah Overall, this is really nice. Usually these old G bodies I Mean you know right away if they're rotted. uh, look at that.
see that pink torque converter? It's got an aftermarket torque converter. Very possible. It's got a built transmission, especially at the mileage. and if there's any mods, you pretty much needed to build these.
This is kind of a weird thing. The Grand Nationals had drum brakes in the rear. That is very odd that they didn't just throw discs back there in a car like this. I Mean you figured this car was faster than the same year? Corvette Firebird Mustang Camaro All that stuff.
This thing beat them all. And they have drum brakes in the rear? That's odd. Okay, so they have a strap to prevent it from breaking motor mounts. They would literally strap the engine to the frame.
So man, this thing very well could be quite modified. Jeff Said he thinks the previous owner to his friend was running in the 11s with this car, which was fairly easy on a. Grand National It doesn't necessarily mean it has a built engine or anything like that, but uh, what else we got? There's the scoop for the intercooler. Everything up here looks very intact and Factory So usually when these things are super modified, they have different intercoolers and all this stuff is missing. I Mean this isn't in the best shape, but overall, if we look at the crash bar in the front and the frame rails right here, this looks really good. Doors closed nice and it's not dented up or anything like that. It looks to be a very, very solid, clean car. I'd say this repaint is is nice.
This repaints probably like a seven or eight out of ten I'd say so. Very very good quality paint job. Something else that makes this car pretty rare is it's a hard top car. These came with t-tops or the Astro roof which was just a sunroof so not necessarily rare just because it's a hard top car.
but this was a more lightweight model. I've never seen a Grand National with crank windows and with manual mirrors and manual door locks. This has basically no options whatsoever. unlike Nordvpn who gives you dozens of options and features including a blazing fast connection speed and over 5300 virtual private network servers making your internet connection safe and secure for up to six devices on one plan.
My favorite feature is content unblocking. So many streaming services limit your content due to where you live. so for example, you can't get Lord of the Rings or The a Hobbit movies on Netflix in the USA, But with Nordvpn we can digitally transport ourselves to the UK and just like that, we have three Hobbit movies ready to watch. I've done this with many other popular shows and movies my mom can now watch Italian TV here in the United States and in some areas, it's kind of like getting an entire new library of content to watch and just for a few dollars a month.
Best part is if you click on my link down below or go to Nordvpn.com Legit! You're gonna get four months for free and there's a 30-day money-back guarantee. so try it out with no risk at all. unlike buying an old and probably broken. Buick Grand National Wow.
So here the iconic Grand National seats. So they've all been recovered and they look beautiful. He said these seats have never been sat on. They were recovered and immediately covered and it shows.
Wow! this is super good quality. I'm gonna go ahead and say they replaced the carpet as well or they just kept it in really nice condition. but overall the interior on this car is in really good shape. We could clean up the steering wheel.
um I Don't see any issues with the dash. Oh this is so cool. Wow. These are the original headrests with the Grand National specific logo and the headliner sagging a little bit. No big deal. so it's got a factory boost gauge right here. It shows 41 000 miles, but I ran the Carfax and it had 57 000 miles on it sometime in like the 90s. So I'm gonna assume that's a rollover.
These don't go over a hundred thousand, but I've seen quite a few over a hundred thousand. I Mean these were pretty robust cars and people drove them anyway. We are going to delve into our abandoned car. Tool Shed In the back of the Tesla pull some spark plugs, do some borescoping I Want to make sure the cylinders look good before we try and fire this? All right, We're getting right into this.
We're gonna pull a plug and kind of go through our normal regimen of checks before starting an engine up for the first time in many, many years. And it does look like this has a Precision turbo and a really big downpipe. Man, this could have a built motor. It's very possible that we get surprised with something done to the internals, especially with 143 000 miles on it.
There's a good chance it was at least rebuilt, but we brought our borescope. You know you know the drill or Boris scope in this cylinder. We got to make sure it's got proper oil in there and that we can fire it up. Jeff has started it a couple times while storing it here for about five years and he said it does run a little weird and uh, he's not exactly sure what's going on with it.
The friend that he bought it from was having that issue as well and unfortunately his friend passed away. so that's how he bought the car. he basically just as a favor to his friend's wife. uh, just took it from her so she didn't have to deal with selling it and then he was going to Turbo LS swap it and after seeing how clean the car was, he just decided to leave it as is and just sell it to someone else.
I Would keep this original drivetrain personally as I have a turbo LS So I don't need another one. We got a little bit of oil here on the spark plug. Otherwise, the spark plug looks pretty good and we're running an auto light to. H I think not sure if that's a colder plug I'm going to assume it is, but okay, that looks good.
Let's just boroscope that first cylinder. Hammer Oh no. Peter we don't need this right now. We don't need the hammer.
Peter's always got to beat something with the hammer to fix it. I mean maybe on the ride, but we're gonna try and drive this car home if it runs well enough. Um, we'll see what we can find at the auto parts store if it needs something or we might have to tow it home. I Don't really know.
We did not come super prepared with a tow truck or anything. like like most of these abandoned car videos, we always think we can drive it. You do realize that a lot of Grand National owners get really excited when they can do like about a 50 mile round trip and the car doesn't come home on a flatbed. Oh I didn't realize that I thought they were pretty good. It's a Gm38 what could go wrong, right? Yeah, a lot. Well, we're always up for the adventure. Worst case, we got to get a tow truck. We'll make it happen.
All right here we go. Cylinder number one, Uh, Piston's pretty far up. It is a little oily in here. I Must say it's a little bit wet.
What is going on here? I'm just going to go ahead and assume this is just oil. Not that that's good or anything, but okay. well, nothing's broken. We're not missing a ring land yet.
All right, let's go to the next one. See what we're working with here? I'm hoping we get one with the Piston A little bit further down could have a valve seal issue. Uh, we got more oil around the spark plug. Okay, we'll know when we started up if we see a bunch of smoke coming out of the tailpipe.
This one is super oily. Okay, uh. cross hatchings in the cylinder? That's good. Hard to tell if these are aftermarket.
Pistons at this point because they're very dirty. Very well could be stock. All right, we're on the driver's side here. I'm about to pull that plug and I just found we have ARP head bolts.
So they're not the studs, but they're the bolts so we know for sure. at the very least the heads have been off this car. Ow ow that hurt power steering fluid reservoir. She's already beating you up.
beating me up already. Jeez. So you're bonding. Yes, Yes! You get to know a car by getting physically injured by it.
You know they haven't been cut by your engine like four times. Do you even own the car? really at that point? All right, So more of the same. Just a little bit of oil on the outside of the spark plug, so this could be a leaking valve cover gasket. Nothing too major.
And here we are inside of another cylinder. We can see some numbers here on the Piston 2481 Maybe Uh, Grand National Guys, this is a factory piston. Uh, there's something written above it too. but I don't know what that is.
Oh wait, there we go. We can kind of see it a little better. What is that? A Zero eight? six? maybe? I don't know. but what I do know is that the cylinders look good.
We have borescope, the other ones too. Everything looks good. Everything's got kind of an oily film in here, so I know the cylinder is not dry. I Think we're pretty well lubricated here, but what is going on here? Let me know people are these.
Factory Pistons All right. So outside of a little bit of oil in there, no chunks, missing, cross hatching in the cylinders I'm getting excited. We're gonna check the oil of course. Uh, the AC compressor looks fairly new and it has a sticker that it was converted and the oil looks really good too.
Alex's face is getting happier and happier as the car smile keeps on growing and growing and growing. It's like the Trans Am smile. It is the transition I Know that smile I get really overly happy when I drive my Trans Am and this has got that same feeling. all right. So the battery's got some juice. It is about three years old, but I think it's pretty weak. We're just gonna go ahead and stick the jumpers on there like so. Bam.
All right guys, here we go. It's gonna be the first time I Sit in this Grand National and I'm definitely covering these seats up. Oh this is beautiful. Let's see what lights up.
Oh oh, it's got an old Kenwood that comes out all right. We'll turn on the headlights here. they working Max Yep got headlights. We have a boost gauge.
We can pretend it has 41 000 miles. Uh, let's uh, let's do this. Whoa. That started right up.
Foreign down nicely. I Don't see any smoke out of the tailpipes. All right. So it's idle down.
It's kind of running a little rough, but no smoke out of the tailpipe. Seem like it wants wants to run very long. Remember when I said we were going to drive this all the way back to Chicago I Don't know about that if we turn off our jumper. Okay, all right, come on now.
maybe it just needs to warm up. Be confident that is something to do with the accessory. Drive Either it needs a tensioner or a pulley or something is really loose. The belt on that pulley right there doesn't really look at the aligned the best, but I don't hear anything wrong with the engine itself.
It's not knocking or ticking or anything like that, so that's nice. But yeah, it's definitely got something going on. It's not running the best. Let's do a quick visual here.
We got about 23 PSI of fuel pressure at idle and I have to look up the specs on that. Uh, lots of vacuum lines. It's an 80s car. We have some that's disconnected these did not have Distributors So they have ignition coils, which is pretty cool for 1986.
A little bit of smoke, probably just burning off the exhaust, maybe from the valve covers leaking. very possible. It's also got a breather right here. This is open.
not sure if that matters. let's see if we give a constant throttle. Oh, that sounds bad. All right.
We gotta figure out the belt situation and it definitely has something going on here with it running. It's not the smoothest. Overall, it sounds really good. when you see water coming out of the tailpipe.
that's actually good. A little dirty water from the carbon in there. It doesn't smell like it's burning any coolant. any oil.
Nothing smells great. I Wonder if this thing has catalytic converters? That'd be odd? All right, let's shut this guy off. I'm totally buying this car. I'm gonna make the deal right now and lock this thing up.
Clean Title: Grand National How's the belt? Peter The belt itself looks good. It's fairly fresh. there's no cracks on it or anything. It's not even really that loose.
I Mean we can. We can hand. We can throw a thing on it hand tension and see if it goes away. All right. Yeah, good call. Try that. Yeah. wait.
Peter before. Uh, before we go ahead and fix this one, let me lock this deal up. Okay, so we're getting this thing for 16 000 and if you guys know values of: Grand Nationals With near perfect paint, perfect interior with good engines, we haven't even driven it, even if it's got a transmission issue, we're still golden. The frame is perfect.
I Mean hang on, let me show you guys something in the back. I Didn't even show you the fuel tank straps or the filler neck or any of the back trunk. I Mean this is a totally rust free car. It just has a little bit of surface rust on the frame.
like we'll be able to spray some rust converter on this and coat it in black and it'll literally look brand new. The floors need absolutely nothing. It's got a really nice exhaust, and it does have catalytic converters, so the car was probably never all that fast. I Mean, if it runs 11's that's obviously really fast, but you can tell it hasn't been gutted and stripped and heavily modified.
It was just kind of an easy bolt-on car a lot of times on these full-frame cars, this stuff rots out and we are solid as a rock or solid as a steel frame. I Guess one last area we gotta look at before we officially make this deal even though I'm totally sold is right here. So we want to make sure this is a real Grand National because you could have a turbo Regal that they just paint and put seats in so you want to look at the sticker here I Ran the Carfax too so we're good to go but just double check everything we2 that is what we're looking for for the Grand National RPO code and this Vin right here matches the VIN that's in a few spots on the car so we are solid. This is a real Grand National.
We have a bunch of 86 service manuals that's pretty cool and a bunch of spare parts as well so that's been replaced. I Think that was a big issue on these factory GM boxes. What do we got? What do we got? Oh yes, I don't even have to buy that. Perfect.
This is an old school column lock. Look at that. It's a theft deterrent system from the 80s. Excellent.
Here is the uh, the turbo cover right here. And we have a bunch of spare parts here. So a big tack, a trans mount? um, who knows what else. So there's valve cover caskets in here so we're set there.
Oh there we go. valve cover gaskets, and looks like we have some suspension stuff, an extra pedal, uh, what else we got going on here? So yeah, they probably replaced the entire arm because of these bushings, so that's nice. It's got an accumulator ball. This is a factory Hydro Boost car.
so that's probably what that is, all right. Peter unveil the trunk floor. Oh, totally solid. and Factory this looks beautiful.
We got some wiring in there, uh, looking good down here. Sometimes these things would rot out. they'd have to repair the quarter panel. very common. G-Body issue and let's see. excellent. This looks really good. What do you think this is? Peter some sort of bushing right here.
and overall it's looking really nice. Oh, wait a minute. I Spoke too soon. Uh, what do we got here? Okay, yeah, so they had to repair the quarter.
that's got to be right in the corner part that goes right in this corner. very common. You'd get water and stuff that would get in the little corner there and then rust it out so it looks like they cut out a little piece of metal probably before they painted the car. so nothing wrong with this.
Obviously cars get restored all the time and lots of metal gets cut into them. They just didn't clean up the weld on the inside, so I'll have to take care of that. But other than that, this looks very, very solid. I Am okay with that for sure.
After seeing everything else on this car, it looks beautiful. What do you think? Peter I think it's a steal I know it's an American car and you don't like American cars but it's got some made in Japan Parts it's got some made in Japan some Japan Okay, so it's Peter approved. Yeah, yeah, and it was in Fast and the Furious Yeah, Oh yeah, right. so that counts.
As long as Peter approves and it's got some sort of link to Japan we can buy it all right. It's time to make this deal happen. And we brought 16 000 bucks cash money for this deal. And if you guys are looking for a low carb option for snacks I Highly recommend these pork rinds.
Delicious! That's Max's pinky Eddie cup. mine's mine's way cooler. Just saying. All right.
Jeff you got the title on you, right? I Do sixteen thousand Perfect. There you go. Cash money Thank you thank you. The car is literally exactly how you described it, so it's nice sometimes you go out to cars like my 86 IROC Camaro where the guy said it was rust free and we could punch a hole through the door.
oh yeah, and the floor and everything else? yeah uh so no you said it was uh exactly what it is she sound yeah so we'll uh we'll We're gonna run by an auto parts store see if we can fix that noise and check over a few other things before we drive a few hundred miles back. but I think we might be okay. Maybe he's like you're not gonna be okay, you're done I Haven't driven this car much at all. so you got it from Colorado and it just went in the storage unit.
Essentially right. Yeah, okay. I drove it from over in there up the street a couple of times and brought it in here and parked it. So the last time this thing was actually driven on the road was roughly how many years ago I've had it for five years I never have.
um, it sat with my buddy, he drove it and then, well. I'll bet for the last three years he had it, he didn't drive it much. Okay, so it's been probably at least eight, eight to ten years. Something like that. Yeah, Okay, yeah, so I'm gonna 100 make it. Oh guaranteed. Oh, you'll you'll at least make it down to there. It's got the tail light warranty I am signing the bill of sale to my very own.
Grand National there's one for you. This is insane. This is insane I don't even know I honestly I don't even know what to do here I know we got to make it back home. but I don't even care like if we get broke down in this car.
I'm still gonna have a big smile on my face. like basically no matter what happens, that's that's how excited the whole time he's like, you guys are not gonna make it like at all What do you know Jeff What do you know? there's no way there's a way I mean unless you know of something that I literally broken right now I Absolutely don't know of anything broken out right now. You guys heard it run and you say it's ships I Didn't even drive this car yet. That's how excited I am Normally I drive cars and do a full inspection I mean I did quite a pretty good inspection here, but he says it shifts and it it shifts, it ships hard.
You're definitely gonna feel it all right, but it's gonna break. What's your guess right now on what's going to break on this car on the way home? My guess as to what's going to break something in the ignition is going to let loose? All bad. Okay, that's because you because it's running bad. You think something's wrong with the ignition? All right guys, let me know in the comments section.
uh, how many miles are we gonna make it and what is going to break and feel free to pick many things because many things can break it is a Buick after it is an old Buick G-Body Yes, Um, but speaking of braking, um Peter has rigged up a wrench system here on the tensioner and hopefully he doesn't break his hand off when we go to start it. But now that we have bought this car, officially, we're gonna put some tension on the tensioner yes and see if our little squeak noise goes away. So let me go ahead and start my very own. Grand National I Can't believe I'm saying that there we go.
fires up nicely on. we have good oil pressure. That's kind of nice. Okay, that's not me.
I didn't do that. Give it a little bit. Okay, yeah, that's a bearing. Yeah, there's a bad bearing somewhere because no matter what we do to the tension, it's still.
Hopefully it's that bearing for the tensioner. not doing it right now. Well, yeah, it only does it when you rev. It Up I did unplug the AC compressor so maybe that's going bad.
We're about to go drive this to a local auto parts store and see what they have in stock for an 86. Buick Regal Fuel pressure regulator seems to be working usually if you take this vacuum line off and kind of do one of these. if any gas comes out, the diaphragm is bad so that's in good shape. I Wonder if this thing has a vacuum leak and that's why it's kind of surging on us. Right now, there's a ton of vacuum lines. Oh wait a minute. if I go like that, we can hear something. Yeah, this is very loose fitting.
Oh yeah, this could definitely be an issue. It is leaking vacuum from here. So many vacuum lines look at. This one is super close to.
Hot Stuff See if we can feel these injectors clicking? Yeah, you can. It's an aftermarket little vacuum block. I Think the factory one is made of plastic. Where is this big vacuum leak? This looks like the map sensor.
Oh wait a minute. this is uh, this is on meter and Air we got a. we got a little cut right here and this is a mass airflow sensor car. so this could be sucking air in I mean this is sucking Aaron before the mass airflow sensor.
That could make it run kind of rough. Uh right now we are checking the transmission fluid. something we probably should have done before. you know, buying the car a little low, but it looks clean though.
it looks really nice and again I Always preach this in my videos but get a pre-purchase inspection. don't do what I do and just kind of show up and buy car sight unseen I mean this one I didn't buy before we came out here but a lot of times I Do that all right I Want to check these motor mounts so we're gonna back it out. First time in gear manual windows down at my Grand National. Very rare option I think I might the power steering.
Let's do it. Okay, well we haven't even made it out of the storage unit. How do you kill an automatic car? Well I'm brake torquing it to check the engine mounts. It's not your clutch.
No, this isn't every. Japanese car is manual. Okay, the engine mounts definitely are worn out and it's got a stutter as well. This fuel though, could seriously be like 10 years old.
All right. Jeff We are gonna go on a very uneventful ride back to Chicago There's your vice grip. This was gifted to me by my buddy Mike No way Are you serious Yeah I Want you to have it? No, you don't have to do that. Oh I don't This is unbelievable I Gotta look at this.
No way. Get out of here. What? What in the world this is so cool! Seriously, thank you! There you go. This is so nice of you.
You didn't have to do that I Love it. You know that's that's coming with the car at every car show. Well thank you I Will I Will seriously take good care of this car and hopefully make your friends proud. I Will have fun with it but we're gonna keep it nice and running around for a long time.
She needs to be ran hard. yeah or she breaks or she before she brings. Thank you Jeff Seriously appreciate it. Thank you Thanks a lot.
Killed it again. I Don't know how to drive automatic. Nothing to do with this car being broken and the previous owner warning us and laughing in our face that we'd never make it back. Nothing to do with that.
Okay, totally fine. I Don't care what's wrong with this car I Love it I Love it No man I Love you. Let's take some pictures of the car. It's got automatic shutdown mode. It knows when you want to stop driving it, but your Tesla doesn't have that. No, it doesn't So to get gas immediately. we don't know how old the gas is. probably very old.
the fuel tank says full but it's an 80s GM car. It's got a nice little stutter there. Okay and we died. Literally did not even make it out.
He said it has the tail light warranty and he was not kidding. Oh this is gonna be fun Peter Here we go. It's gonna be a one foot on the throttle at all times. Yeah, it just died again and then it restarted it.
Oh this is. we're never gonna make it. It's dead. It literally we didn't We literally didn't even make it.
Well it just idled for a while. see Max thinks he's driving a clean Tesla All right I'm gonna two foot it. Yeah, we should definitely get gas. Oh, this has some serious issues.
Go Go! Max Oh, this stinks. This literally is just like how I drove the Fox body. but I only had to go eight miles. Now we have to go like a few hundred miles that's across this country road.
Go. Don't stall out on me. It's like right before the shift or right? Yeah, right when it shifts, it dies. Dude I was like sure Jeff we'll be fine.
He's only lot driven it. what does he know? Oh, it shifted third gear. Okay, you just gotta make it out of second and you're all good. I wonder this has manual seats I wonder if this could you get a GN with power seats? I wonder this is all manual manual mirrors? Yeah man.
oh it's dead automatic. Um fuel cut for coasting to get better fuel mileage? It's an Eco. It's an Eco mod. All right.
let's go into neutral. Come on baby. Go baby. Go! You just gotta know how to drive it.
It's a GN thing. It's a GN thing people. All right. Totally normal.
There's nothing wrong with this car at all. All right. Max Stop stopping at stop signs. Okay, we just need to blow through as many as possible so we can make it.
Let's see. Get that ship. Oh oh, you almost had it. Almost had that one the double clutch.
it missed the gear. Here we go. You can't give it too much throttle. Jeff had mentioned something maybe with the ignition coil or something as I don't know about that.
Okay, how are we doing? You're good. We're good. Don't die. We gotta make it up a hill.
No no no, we're in the middle of some little Country Town Oh no. Come on. we need to figure this out. We're never gonna make it.
and there's someone behind me. Is it out of fuel? Now we're on a hill. Oh, here we go here. we go.
Good thing this thing's under warranty. Let's make it up the hill. Please please please. You know what? I'm gonna keep it in first gear because every time it shifts is when it dies.
Okay, never mind. it just died. anyway. Oh thanks buddy. Yeah I'm just stopped in the middle of the road for no reason. Look at. this guy is seriously angry at me. Oh he did a burnout in his Avalon People are so crazy.
Oh he's driving like a nut job. Cool these days. Like come on and we're in the middle of nowhere Wisconsin And people are not usually nicer out here. What happened to Midwest Nice.
Where's the Midwest niceness Midwest Hospitality is that is that a word? that's Southern hospital Southern Hospital Oh yeah. I mean if it was out of gas, it would have just run out of gas. It's probably not out of gas. Go Max He's in front of us in the Tesla Go faster Max I Can't slow down.
Go! Oh no. I had momentum. Oh this is this has been running good. Max Go faster.
This is the longest it's ever ran. We've gotten at least 20 seconds of it running. That is a record for us today. Dude, this thing is running fine now.
And here's the parts store. Take that turn faster. Max Oh, it's gonna die up the hill. Oh oh, it's dying literally going into the parking spot for the auto.
This is not a retail entrance delivery only. Are you kidding me? I'm staying right here I got a Grand National All right, Park where I want? All right. this is the best we could do to prop up the hood. but we basically have to figure out this issue in this parking lot because we're not gonna make it.
We're not gonna make it back to Chicago like this at all. and I think it's either fuel related or some kind of sensor that is cutting out. Yeah. I mean this just runs bad Now something I Noticed after we plop the hood here in the parking lot is right here.
This relay probably hard for you guys to tell, but the wiring does not look the best. Not exactly sure what this relay does and this one too. they're all kind of melted. Look at this.
I'm literally peeling off melted pieces of wiring that is not good and it's a map sensor. I'm just curious. We'll just die now. it doesn't get a map reading.
It does not die. Apparently this mass airflow sensor could also cause this issue. This whole thing is just super janky and loose I Want to duplicate it dying in front of us without us having to drive it? I think we have to break torque it for that though. Wow, does that sound bad? I Know it sounds like it's got a knock, but I think whatever is making that noise in the front of the engine is doing that because the knock goes away.
Let's see, we got idle air control valve that can do it. Also, there's so many 80s GM sensors that can cause this thing to die. All right. So something.
I Remember from my third Gen Trans Am days is that if the mass airflow sensor was bad, you could test it by just unplugging it and then it would switch to a speed density mode where it's just running off the map sensor and a few other sensors. Uh, go ahead and start it up. let's see if it fires foreign. There is a slight knock that has me a little worried right now. I'm not gonna lie, this engine might be knocking that does not sound good. It completely goes away when it idles down. All right. Well, no, just by driving in the parking lot.
If the mass airflow sensor is going to fix it, it's definitely running a little funky with it unplugged. We got a surface engine soon. light, but yeah, as soon as we get into gear and it idles down, that knock goes away completely. I Mean it could be a bad tensioner I guess, but that that's very helpful.
Ah, it died. Okay, hey, we can drive it to the front of the store now. so we're dying off in the two parking lot spots. Excellent.
This really stinks. All right whenever you're ready. Peter All right. So I'm just gonna check for vacuum leaks again.
Don't do this at home. I'm spraying some brake cleaner. if there's a vacuum leak bad enough, it'll suck it in the intake and we'll hear the RPM increase a little bit. Just kind of a quick way to do it.
But brake clean is flammable. Okay, stop knocking. Not supposed to have an engine knock all right. So Peterson Drive he's gonna break torque it a little bit.
I'm watching the fuel pressure gauge right there to see if that cuts out when it dies. So we want it to die right now and we can't get it to die. So go ahead Peter and notice it does not knock at all while it's in drive. You only get that when it's revved up in park and it will not die right now.
Try, uh, try reverse. Peter Okay, now he's in drive. He was in Reverse before. Can't get it to die All right? So Peter's gonna drive the thing in the parking lot and I'm just gonna walk with it and watch that fuel pressure gauge.
Did we bring a fuel pressure gauge? We did right? Yeah, Okay, all right, we could just hook up our own and then run the gauge right out of the windshield there. But this is, uh, way more normal Is that? Uh oh. it's starting to die. Oh, the fuel pressure is getting low.
All right. keep going. Peter Let's let's drive it right now. Oh, it's gonna die, isn't it? Ah, it had fuel pressure.
It's just losing fuel pressure that time because the engine died out so the fuel pump wasn't running. Ah, this is crazy. All right. So Max just went and got us gas.
We couldn't make it to the gas station, so at least we have a gallon we can just kind of put in this thing. Who knows? It's worth a shot. All right. So I had to get a funnel because this is not sealing I Don't want to pour gas all over my car? Watch me do it.
Anyway, there we go. I'm hoping this thing doesn't have a lot of fuel in it because if it does, it's really old. We don't really know. the gauge goes all over the place.
Jeff Said he put like four gallons in it a few years ago or something. so who knows. All right, we got that gallon of fuel in this game. I Was just about to say we're good and then it died back to the drawing board. I Wasn't really too hopeful for the fuel thing, but we did it. It's out of the way now, All right. We found that the bolt that holds in the positive battery cable is this thing was loose and they have a bunch of washers in here because this bolt is too long. So we just walked in the store, bought a few washers.
this isn't gonna fix it, but just one of those, let's just fix it while we're in there type of deal and that's a little corroded so we'll clean that up too. We've got some contact cleaner as well. We are going to leave the state of Wisconsin with many more tools and supplies and they're all just going to get added to our supply of on the road get old broken cars running supply list. Okay I Couldn't get this whole Bolt situation to work to my satisfaction.
So we just went and bought a proper side battery post Bolts from the auto parts store. It's perfect. Look at this. we are fixing this thing back up to its original condition as we speak.
Yeah, Beautiful. This thing was literally just spinning which could be the issue. I Guess let's just try it. We'll know right away.
All right, let's see if it dies with the battery signed out. It definitely doesn't run any better. It's like it doesn't run bad. I Think the motor mounts are just shot, but yeah sound any better.
It's a beautiful car though. It barely runs. It might have a rod knock missing the wheels, but I'm still very happy with this purchase. Seriously.
I'm not getting around even if this needs a motor. I'm still very very happy with them. Look at how long it's gone without dying. this is at least 20 seconds or so.
Oh oh there it goes. I Still like it. This isn't good. Okay, look at the connector here.
Going to this relay? that is not what you want to see now in some of these older GM cars. They did use a Dielectric grease that would kind of look like this eventually. So yeah, this isn't really melted. this is just the factory goo that they use that looks like this after so many years.
get out of here factory goo don't need you. The Ford goo on the fox body was much better I Don't know. Honestly, this would probably be good enough to tell us if it fixed anything. All right, so we'll pick some of this harder stuff out.
So yeah, I think the relay is fine because the car does run. Could be a bad intermittent relay, but we definitely want to get this goo out of here first. All right, So we got a little bit more. Dielectric Grease We'll add in here.
Snap it in. Okay, foreign spot number five. here we are. It's a little bit more shaded under the hood here.
I Guess are you like one of those guys that use two parking spots for three? I Used three parking spots? All right I Want any door? Dangs On my Grand National. Okay, so you're not gonna believe this, but they have an ignition module and an ignition coil in stock at this parts store. Um, this wouldn't happen if we were in Chicago But we're out in the middle of nowhere and they probably have a lot of old GM 3.8 liters and these go bad all the time. So if you guys are around for the Fox Body Mustang videos, we had a bad ignition module on that car and it just left the stranded and these go bad all the time too on GM cars. So it's right here and we need to get the coil off. Take this connector out. check that first. Looks very clean.
the pins look good. Now let's keep going. All right. So we're going to take this ignition coil off next.
Oh, we brought it all this trip. Okay there she is the ignition module. Nothing looks too bad yet. All right.
So we already took a picture so we remember where all this stuff goes. I'm gonna say this is a pretty Advanced 1986 no distributor. Kind of cool. Not cool right now.
but you know in theory it's cool. Oh please be bad. Please be bad place your guesses now people. Is this going to fix it? Well, at least the one issue of it dying.
There's other issues going on here. This definitely wins the award for the cutest little intake plenum ever. It's even got little heatsink looking things on there. It's so small and cute cute! I Love it all right I wonder if this thing is original I Highly doubt it 'd be amazing if it was.
What does it say I Don't see any numbers on here that oh, is this a GM part number? I Don't really see any markings although this little logo here doesn't that look kind of Napa-ish I Gotta say though, this in here a little funky now. Either way, we're replacing this bad boy because once we install the new one, it's a no return policy on electric parts and the guys here at the auto parts store know we're working on this. There's no line like yeah, we didn't install this at all so that's not happening. So here's our new one.
So when I was in high school, one of my first jobs was working at Burger King then I was an annoying telemarketer. My third job was working at a parts store that was my sophomore year when I decided that I was going to be doing something in the automotive industry and I'm like I might as well start getting experience now. Back in my day, we could test old school ignition modules like this, but they don't have that stuff anymore at all the auto parts stores. Please fix my Buick have I owned a Buick before I don't think I've ever owned a Buick right? No, I haven't my wife owned an Oldsmobile It's about as closest to a Buick as we've gotten.
Definitely on Cadillacs that's kind of Buicky. I'll peel the tape off this little gasket. Okay, then we will install it our coil packeth young. Maximus We need a picture sir.
Excellent there we go. All right. Yellow goes all the way to this one. Green and black, middle, blue and black. Go to this one here. just in case you're wondering. when you do the ignition coil or ignition module on your turbo, Buick We'll get our six T25s in there all right. The coil is tightened down.
Look all right people, this is it. This is it. I Mean it's at it. If it's not that, we'll try the coil.
We don't have much to diagnose this old 1986 Buick but oh, please be it. That's all. I Gotta say please Buick Welcome me to your community with open arms, not broken arms. Let's see.
I Gotta say that hurts my heart I was really hopeful for that. Throwing Parts at cars is uh, it's never never good. but these are pretty cheap. I think that was like 50 bucks and now we got a spare bullet.
we'll stick in the trunk when this. Jeep Chinese One fails. All right. So off camera we have disconnected the map sensor.
We've tried running it without the mass airflow sensor. It won't run without the camshaft position sensor plugged in a crank sensor can just cause it to die out like this randomly. So we have one coming to the parts store here in about an hour. But in the meantime, the guy in there was nice enough to just bring us the ignition coil and he's like here, you can just try this without buying in to see if it fixes its own.
Take five minutes. Let's just give it a shot. Sometimes an ignition coil can heat up and intermittently fail. So I did check to make sure all the wires go to the right spark plug and they do.
Although that wouldn't really cause this kind of issue either. It's funny, the engine does run pretty well when it runs. I'm gonna go ahead and untwist all these wires. They're super.
Twisted All right there we go. This looks very familiar. It's like we were here recently. Deja Vu Deja Vu I Guess so even if it's not the coil, not a bad idea to have a coil.
So normally throwing Parts at a car is a gigantic waste of money. But when you're talking 80s American cars. we can get the ignition module to coil pretty much all the sensors for like 300 and they all fail. At some point you'll need to do them, so it's one of those things.
You might as well just buy them. Now keep them in the glove box with a few tools. you only need a couple hand tools and then you could save yourself a tow. A tow alone would cost you more than replacing all these parts.
I Didn't think it was gonna need a coil anyway, but whatever. it's five minutes, right? All right. So we're just gonna take a look at the engine's computer and it's right here. It slid out very easy.
I Don't know if someone's been also looking at the engine's computer and we'll just take a look at the connections here. This is back in the time when an engine computer did fail. Now it's very rare. Let's just run the car and just kind of play around with this thing.
We have not gotten the car to die just in park at idle, yet. We can rev it up and do all sorts of stuff and it won't die. And I verified time and time again that the fuel pressure is not dropping because with the Fox Body Mustang we had an issue where I was sucking up rust in the sock and then it would all fall down when we shut it off so it would run well for like a minute and then suck up all the rust and get plugged up. and I don't think that's it. the fuel pressure is Rock Solid No matter what, even when it dies out, it still holds steady, it's not even draining back. So I don't think that's it all right now. I'm just going to remove the belt I Kind of want to hear this belt noise go away and see if the knock is related to anything in the accessory drives to make myself feel a little bit better, even if we're stranded out here in the middle of nowhere. at least.
maybe. I don't have a knocking engine and this belt is. it's gooey. It's very gooey all right.
Well, maybe we can at least fix a belt squeak. It'll be one out of three here. Hey yay, my engine doesn't squeak Peter Rev It Up It doesn't knock. Oh wait, there it is.
It's coming back. It's kind of comfortable. before it was knocking all the time. Give it some like steady 2000.
Got a little something but before it was knocking a lot more it could be converter bolts. We've let the engine cool down for a little while and they expand and they could be hitting I Had this once before in my Trans Am We just used the wrong bolts for the aftermarket converter. I'm just gonna see just because if it dies out with the belt off. I Mean it should still die off with the belt off unless it's some weird load thing where there's an accessory that's dragging the engine down right at the right moment and causing our issue.
That's like really really scraping at the bottom of the barrel. Yeah, it's gonna die. Okay, all right, that was fun. All right.
We're gonna let it coast and stop on its own because we're about to jack it up. We don't need to do that on a hill, just let it fall in. its natural Groove there Peter There we go. Excellent.
Well I Got underneath there and the converter bolts. We're not touching anything. so I don't know so we'll look at that knock again later. Figure that out.
Right now, we got to get this thing to run. Uh, it's now about five o'clock and we're gonna lose sunlight here shortly and we cannot accept defeat. I'm not taking an L on this one. It runs.
We gotta be able to get this to go. We're so close. No, no, we're not. It's now.
we're close. It's literally the same as when we got here. We're close to where we bought it. We are close unfortunately.
I Don't live in whatever town of Wisconsin this is Peter I Can't take, just do it. Just get angry. Okay, so right now we're going to take a look at the idle air control motor right here which we have disconnected and makes no difference at all. but it could very well have failed in a certain position. and uh, that position is killing our engine and and luckily we don't have the right tool. Great. Let's just see here. Okay, the throttle blade opens.
That's cool. When in doubt, just use improper tools. That fixes everything. The proper tools.
If they work right, that's right. If that moves, that's how you do it. I Don't think I know how to use this. it's made in.
Germany Sonic Tool Theater Sonic Tools You've been using them for six months now. There we go. Nice. Why can't they just be like, obviously broken? Why? And then it's dirty.
I Guess turn the ignition on and see if it does something cool. Okay, Okay, okay. okay. okay.
yeah, that was dumb. It shot the whole thing out with the spring. It works. We shouldn't have done that that that do.
we break it. Yeah, we probably didn't break it, but that was out here way too long. That was really dumb. That plunger's got to stop somewhere.
It stops in here. Where'd it go? Well, here's the spring. Okay, uh. the other part just shot out somewhere over there.
It's like a dart. It's kind of fun actually. After 10 minutes of searching, we have found the part that came out there. We go.
Okay, now we can put our idle air control motor back together and we've learned not to do that. which we knew we're just being idiots. after a certain part. A certain amount of time when you're trying to be smart, you run out of trying to be smart.
Yeah, our smartness is just going out the window. Funny because I've worked on a lot of very, very complicated. Mercedes But we have diagnostic equipment like we got nothing here. You know we're in the middle of nowhere.
All we have is Max and I'm no good. he's just I'm just an editor. He's a giant disappointment. Like he'll make a cut here.
I'll pause. Cut that out Max It'll cut that out. That's about it. Unbelievable.
Max Is a very smart fella. Well let's not get ahead of us. We found the part. Where was it? Oh it was just somewhere in the Bermuda Triangle of Gn's did you find it with a little magnet thing I Just we were I was literally giving up.
Me and Peter were like what are we gonna do? We should. We have any motor? Yeah, let's just give up and then it'll start. It's not the motor yeah. I mean the motor might be bad.
it's probably Gonna Knock but it's not. That the knock is, you know, you know. so he's only open another hour. they close at six six o'clock Yeah, so he's like, what is it the Sabbath Day Wisconsin Wisconsin Time to make cheese.
All right guys. So we've waited about three hours for our new crankshaft sensor and this is just a hall effect sensor. So the way this works basically is if you see here, we have this metal strip that's going to be spinning around and there are break points in it. As you can see, it doesn't go all the way around and it's directly attached to the harmonic balancer when that passes through these poles. Here on this hall effect sensor, it causes a break in the magnetic field which causes a voltage drop or a voltage differential. So you can see here it's getting its Supply voltage right here. That's a three wire connector so it's able to sense that voltage drop and it knows that that is a revolution and then the ECU is programmed to detect that and translate it into the RPM And some cars also incorporate a camshaft sensor for this as well. So basically what could be going on here is that this crankshaft sensor is intermittently failing.
and what I've seen online is that the piece that goes in between the poles could actually damage the sensor. I Would imagine this would have to be bent for that to happen, but nonetheless, it's hard for you guys to tell, but there does seem to be a little bit of damage on this guy and theoretically that could cause a knocking noise too. I Don't know trying to think of anything that would cause us to not have an actual engine knock right now. All right people, just trying to be hopeful.
Let's get this connector off. Please just come off there. We go. Right now, we gotta bump the starter so we move that out of the way so we can remove the sensor.
See no another bump. Uh, one tiny bump. Nope. Keep bumping.
Okay, stop stop stop. That was the best bump in the world. Peter Great bump. I Don't know if you guys can see this, but a little bit of plastic.
a little bit of the sensor there. It's kind of damaged. It's definitely got loud starter noises. There's no inspection cover here, so it's kind of normal.
All right. So I believe that I can do this without taking the bracket out. There is a thin bolt that literally just squeezes the sensor in place. It bends the metal bracket to hold it.
It's very like ancient cavemany type of. Technology It's like, hey, Bill how do we get this Grand National crank sensor to be held in Hulk Squeeze. That's it. Just squeeze it.
Let's give it the old Buick squeeze. You'll be fine. It might eventually loosen up and get destroyed by the harmonic balancer and then cause a bunch of Chicago guys to get stranded in the middle of. Wisconsin But we'll worry about that 36 years from now.
It's okay. it's gonna be fine. Bill, you get a raise. Halfway through that conversation, Bill was already on his union break.
Didn't hear anything at all. And this is how this crankshaft sensor bracket was invented. True story people. And I would like to just show everybody that I'm working.
Literally right under a sewer so there's really no room for air and dropping anything. All right now. this guy should in theory pull out. It's starting to move.
Okay, there it is. we got it. That's definitely chewed up. See right there it is. Shoot up right here. That's not a good sign. I Mean it'd be a great sign. I Hope this thing is bad.
there's our new one. Okay, all right. so I am going to go ahead and replace this bracket I Can't get these teeth to kind of release so they could have just been pinched together too much and and that'll do it. So that's probably why they give you the new one.
All right, let's get that out. I Already got the top one out. This thing is a pain in the butt, but if it fixes it, all will be forgiven. Why are you still stuck? I Have everything off? Okay, there we go.
All right. So this is the old bracket. This is where I was having problems. This has just been pinched one too many times.
This one slides right in. Still kind of a weird design in my opinion. Not a big fan of this, especially considering how sensitive this would be. If this was moved just a little bit.
it would destroy the sensor which is what I'm hoping happened. So we're going to do is get this bolt going on in here. We'll just start it because this is kind of sliding all over the place and then we'll mount it and once we know for sure that the reluctor ring is perfectly spaced inside of here, then we can tighten it down. All right here we go.
New sensor going in. Please, please be the part that finally fixes my Buick Grand National comment down below. If you were a Buick engineer on the Grand National let me know whose idea whose idea was it with this crank sensor could have just bolted in with a bolt in the sensor. You know how I know Alex loves this car how cause he still loves this car right now I do still loves it I don't regret anything I don't care if the motor's blown I don't care.
it could be stolen I'm not giving it back if it's stolen. whatever the issue is I will fix it I don't care Now we just gotta tighten these down and then adjust the sensor. This is very nerve-wracking We have one shot because if this isn't adjusted perfect, it's going to instantly destroy the sensor and then we're dead in the water. They don't have another one.
Okay, bracket is tight. All right. So right now I have to make sure that the adjustment on this sensor is just right. We get one shot at this if I mess up and the reluctor ring destroys the sensor.
We're dead in the water because it takes four hours to get this. So I believe it went in like this. All right. So we have Peter with a pry bar hey hey Peter uh he is going to be turning the flex plate because we can't get anything in with this fan situation in the crank and we don't want to just crank it over.
That's definitely not we want to do because we want to make sure this reluctor ring slides right in other way. Peter Please We want this reluctor ring to slide perfectly into those little grooves and we need to do this slowly. So I just adjusted it by eye and I think I may have done it really nicely. Actually, that's perfect. I'm a Grand National expert I Think Okay, yeah. cool, that's awesome. Peter Um I think we're good hunky dial. That means like it's true.
It's it's real. It's it's the real deal. Yeah. I'm telling the truth.
Yeah, Okay, what's the word for? Grand National is fixed? Uh, I don't know fixed. Um, what's the word for this? Oh Genki Genki Genki is good. So this Grand National is fixed? Yeah. Wow.
All right. So before we put everything back together, we're gonna feed in our new belt. Sometimes replacing the belt fixes a noise like that. All right.
So get the belt behind the intercooler fan and they didn't have a tensioner in stock. Uh, but sometimes the belt can fix it. and I don't see really anything wrong with these pulleys. that could just be that gummy belt.
Just got some oil on it or whatever and it's causing that noise. What is this? I Got a lasting final for bathroom carts. Whatever you need to drive away. Oh I Appreciate it, Man, that's awesome I didn't catch your name.
what's your name? I'm Dave Dave I'm Alex MVP today. seriously thank you I Don't know what we would have done without being broke down in here and you're cooking to some of the parts and stuff. well you know that just kind of comes down to. We had the parts in stock to take care of you guys which which helped if I didn't have that I couldn't help you? No I know, but you know what I mean being patient with us.
let us try in the coil I appreciate it. Seriously? Yeah, um but yeah. hopefully we're gonna try the crank sensor. Hopefully that's it.
Okay, we'll go from there sure, but if you want to see all the how the madness unfolds, legit's three cars on YouTube will do. Definitely Literally making a video right now I Love this So sure. hopefully we make it home tonight. If not, we'll have to get it if I See it here in the morning.
Are you here in the morning? I Will be here tomorrow again. Yes. Is there if I did need to leave it until the tow truck could come in the morning, would that be okay? 100 fine? Okay, awesome Yep thanks Dave I Appreciate it. Yeah, no problem.
I'm the store manager so even if it just sits here, okay, yeah, we'll push it into a good spot. You know? yeah, it won't be a problem. Okay, I'll know about it, You know? we just talked about it. 100 awesome Awesome.
Okay, there's our new belt. If we fix one thing, if it's just the squeak, we basically right now we have obviously the thing where it dies out. that's a thing. We have the squeak.
We also have the knock I'll take two out of three but I don't even know which? Okay this? No. yeah. I take two out of three. The knock in it running well I don't care about the squeak.
Yeah, that'd be good. but if the squeak's the only one that we get, yeah, watch. we're gonna leave here and it will fix the squeak. but it'll have an engine knock and it'll still die. That'll be our luck here today. All right, the sun is sitting here in uh I don't know what city we're in, Watchowski or something. that's Polish whatever sounds good. All right we're at and uh, this is kind of our last chance.
The store is closed, it's gonna be dark soon, we haven't eaten in days and uh Max is looking mighty delicious he is Max is looking good. you'd be the first to go. Max I Have nothing. Wait, hold on no, you'll be the first to go.
Get out of here. All right. Peter All right, All right. it always does that.
Hey, we don't have a belt squeak. don't know yet. We still kind of have a knock though that's running way smoother than it was before. You think that's running way sooner than that, it does sound nice.
Wow. I Gotta say, the motor is not shaking yet. Okay Peter Peter Are you serious? You didn't just shut that off on me, Dude. Oh I Thought you were messing with me.
It just died. That's worse than before. That was a fluke. It's just it's this started so well.
Go ahead. Are you giving it gas? You're not gonna guess. Okay I mean we did have that. Idol Oh We had the idle air control motor apart and it might need to just kind of be reset.
You're not doing anything right now. Okay, all right. Oh, the belt fixed our squeak noise. So one out of three issues is fixed.
That's good. Try to make it die. Peter that is. the thing's still on.
Oh, it's still on the jack. Okay, hang on. Oh, and they don't have Push shocks. By the way, they have to order them.
That's why we haven't replaced those yet. All right. Max I'm feeling confident. Let's just go ahead and close the hood, not not all the way.
I'm not that confident. Okay, all right. Peter Do your best to make this thing die. Think it almost just died right now.
See you later. All right, That's good. No, no dude, what in the world, but it screwed her out with everything I was asking. did we just hit the road and see if we can get it to run on the highway I Don't know guys.
I don't know what to say anymore I mean it's basically we're gonna have to get it towed so we might as well give it a try, right? I'm so dirty I feel so bad. Not Dicksonian popper? Okay please. Uh, can I have some more? Oh okay, yeah I know what that is. Now comment down below if you know what Peter's talking
Try running it for a moment without the belt, then if sound goes away, it's one of the belt driven pulley bearing, on ac comp, alt. Power steer, belt tensioner.
The crank sensor fixed most of it, but you mite have a fuel pump or fuel pump pressure regulator problem.
That's cool you guys speak a little Japanese.
Yeah the crank sensor is critical, but it controls the timing and everything engine related.
By the way, nice score for 16k. Wanna sell it? I wish I had my 87 gn still. I had 2. The performance mods n tricks you can do on these is astronomical for what you get out of it. You'll never want a Ford mustang, Camaro, or any of those cars, you'll be taking a step down n back. With GN you've stepped up in the world big. There's a GN passenger side mirror replacement, where it says, objects in mirror are slower than you.
Hey good find, have fun…
I had a 78 Buick regal
The knocking sounds like a big end bearing from being over reved and crap oil 💯💯💯🔥🔥🔥👊👊👊
Started watching this video and now I have to find out what's happening with the car. On to video number 2. Thanks for the content. 👍
If it's been sitting for along time, always flush the fuel system! You should know this. Great video keep up the content.
Hey bro. I just watched your series on AMG engine 50 hour install. You need a pendant remote for your lift.
That’s why I ALWAYS fill gas tank all the way up when I put away for winter. Tank won’t rust too.
$18 dollar fix! Supercharger neoprene gear to keep the supercharger gears from jumping teeth. It makes a bad bearing sound. Just a little play can make it not idle correctly. My 97 Bonneville did the same thing.
Just finding a Gbody that has doors that still close right is a miracle
