I was lucky enough to have a Ur Quattro for six years. The ABS off switch was for use when it snowed. I guess the modern ABS system have so much more processing power that they can work it out for themselves.

That was the period Audi wanted to go against the German premium brands: BMW and MB, they needed to be over the top in all aspects to get up there.
Put in context what Audi was offering: electric-memory seats, digital climate control, BC, and think of the E36 and w201 from that period.
