Have you ever wanted a car so bad that you didn't care if it was going to get you in trouble? Maybe. This car has a very well documented history of consistently breaking once modified. Have you guys ever wanted one of those? Yeah, Me too. That's why I Got this I Bought my 1995 Eclipse GSX out of Nevada for eight thousand dollars with 250 000 miles at the time I Thought this was a gigantic rip-off but it was almost impossible to find a mostly stock example that hadn't been wrecked and was rust free.

This car spent its entire life in the desert, so although it needs paint, it has a dirty undercarriage, It's lack of any rust made it the perfect platform for my dream DSM build So I sorted out any and all normal car mechanical issues and now it runs and drives as it did almost 30 years ago. I Know this might not be super cheap, but can I at least get two out of three? Can this car be fast and reliable? We're gonna find out. And it all starts with a table full of parts that will not only increase horsepower and make for cool turboy noises, alcohol, but also increase reliability and safety. My mission to build a legit streetcars DSM starts under the hood, so let the Madness begin.

We'll go over all the parts on the table as we install them, but this is so cool. I Just had a table full of parts for the procharged van and now we have one for the Eclipse. and if you guys saw the van video, not all of them made it on there, so hopefully this table's empty after this. All right.

The first thing we need to diagnose is why my 4g63t engine won't produce that much boost. So in a previous episode I temporarily installed a boost controller and I even rigged up the wastegate. but we couldn't get it to go much higher than stock and and and we want to fix that, we want higher than stock. and I suspect that our blow-off valve is faulty.

so let's find out now. blow off valve can go bad in a couple of ways. It could be leaking internally, so we're just going to pull a vacuum here on the diaphragm and I don't think it's leaking internally. Nope, that's looking pretty good, all right.

Next Step If the blow-off valve is not leaking internally, it could be leaking out into atmosphere. Now this side looks a little janky. it's missing the clamp and there's some kind of glue here and this would definitely cause an issue you, but not necessarily a low boost issue because this is the side that blows off the air after you get off the throttle and it recirculates it back into the intake on this type of car. So if we had a leak in this area that would actually leak boost and what do we have? what do we have right there? That is a crack that could definitely cause air pressure to leak out and limit our Boost And this is a super old blow-off valve.

so let's let's just get rid of it. We're going to end up replacing all of this piping. It's going to look so good, but we have to get this ugly looking Factory intake out of here. and we aren't going to be running a mass airflow sensor either.
so I'll get into that. Okay, let's just yeah. Okay, that's just gonna pop right off. No clamps.

Excellent. There's one clamp on the turbo coolant reservoir hose. looks like it's going to get in our way. so let's move that and then we have this hose that goes to the intake and that.

that's it. This is gone. never to be used in my car again. But that doesn't mean I'm throwing this out.

I'm saving all of these stock. Eclipse Parts Well, because they've become very rare. So If any of you guys out there watching are doing a factory restoration on a DSM and you need any of the parts that you see me take off, just send me an email at Legitstreetcars Gmail.com and I'll send them to you. We gotta save the Dsms goodbye.

Factory Air Filter looks like we have three tens. Do a little Zippity Doodah Foreign. Get out of here. Oh man is this car clean guys.

Wow. All right, let's get this little bugger out of the way. I Meant to do an English accent. it always comes out Australian but I Just recently bought a car.

that's it's in the UK So I've been watching a lot of like British YouTube videos on this thing and somehow I still can't get the accent down one day. Remove yourself. Bloody Boat: Pretty good. Oh, we got a sneaky one right here.

Oh I'm surprised this tab's not broken. It looks like you can just rip it off. And and there's one more. There's always one.

Morse Hiding from you? Ah, there you go. All right. Look at this little baby tube. That little tube connects to our baby intercooler which we're replacing and we're replacing this entire elbow here.

So two bolts and Two Nuts to remove one last bolt holding the tube in. Okay, that's a good sound. Things should come out now. Oh soft dinner cooler.

Oh oh, that hurts my gloves ripped. Weird. Okay, time for pain. We must remove this restrictive air intake.

Oh man, my hand hurts Okay, all right there it is. Look at this snorkly looking thing. Another Factory part that we will be saving. But first, let's test this blow off valve.

It's not going to make that noise yet, but it will. After we install this guy, we can adjust it for more. What are you looking at? There's nothing on my face. You can even see that the Rubber seal is blowing out.

So the block valve itself might not be bad, but it's not sealing, that's for sure. All right, you know? I Gotta physically watch this thing leak, right? That's how we fully diagnose this. So I've built a little Contraption here. This is a tire valve stem and some stuff from Home Depot adapted down to fit our tube and with a can of liquid electrical tape to block it off, it's normal.

Now, if you're testing a block valve, it's very important that you actually get a gauge on here because this is meant to open at a certain PSI So we're going to start with very, very little. Okay, so we're at like three or four PSI and this thing is leaking already trying to keep it steady. Yeah, this is completely leaking out at like three or four. PSI That is definitely not normal.
So the spring in here is most likely weak and it's letting all of our boost pressure. Just just go. Just go to the atmosphere. Who does it think it is? You guys want to see what happens if we give it a bunch of PSI Okay, so it maxes out at like 90.

All right, a little little uneventful there. It just kind of basically does the same thing it leaks, but I can feel that it's also leaking around the seal as well. Yeah, yeah, this thing is just in rough shape. but you want to know it's not in rough shape.

The bones of this car. Look at this. The strut Towers would always rust out on these and this is original. Absolutely no rust.

The car was also a mechanically maintained very well because it does have 250 000 miles on it. but you want to know what else is maintained very well. Not my ripped glove but my lawn and that's because I Use Sunday and guys take a look at my beautiful lawn. I Cut this like four days ago and it's coming in thick and using these nutrient packs is so easy.

Just hook up your garden hose, open the valve and that's it. You're feeding your lawn with the good stuff. Zero pesticides and ingredients that you can pronounce like nitrogen, soy protein, and molasses. I Live in Chicago So our grass dies and turns yellow in the winter.

DSM Okay, intake tube is going in the box but I will be taking my testing tools back I Made this part like 15 years ago chasing boost leaks on my Turbo Ta. It served me well. All right. We're going to start by installing the first piece to this puzzle and that is a new intake elbow and I got the intake air temperature sensor bung welded in by my guys at Fluid Motor.

Union They did an excellent job that looks great to hold. Yeah, definitely. I'm not touching that. We have relocated the intake air temperature sensor and with this installed we won't see it.
I Just want to see nice looking intake tubes. not not that all right. So we're using a factory metal gasket and all we need to do is reinstall our bolts and lock washers and nuts and then tighten everything up. Now this is aluminum so I'm being pretty gentle and we'll do our final tighten by hand.

Doesn't need a lot of torque. First part is on and looking good. I might go satin black on all of the intake tubing I'm not really sure yet and I'm thinking if I keep this aftermarket exhaust manifold of getting it ceramic coated in a black as well. so just kind of going for a really clean look.

Black valve covers? possibly nothing too showy under the hood? I just I Just want it to work really well. All right, you know, before we rip the front bumper off for the gigantic intercooler, let's get in this interior and install our gauges. Don't mind my dirty carpet, but next, we need to find a reliable power source for the gauges. So let's find that there are two other bolts hiding under some covers, so it should come out now.

Yeah, there we go. What in the world is going on under here? What kind of 1990s stuff is this? Whoa. Oh man, there's there's more. This stuff is going into some kind of module.

What in the world are these wires here? Where do these go? Looks like these go to one of the 20 amp fuses. Okay, so right now I have the key off and I'm checking for power. we got nothing. Let's turn the key on.

Okay, there we go. 12 volts key on. Sweet! This is really awesome and everything. Like we have a free power source but this was live.

This was live and I traced it back. It goes to a 20 amp fuse. Um, so that's plenty for what we need. Both the gauges pull like one or two amps at the most.

but yeah, this was live. That's that's. not. That wasn't good.

So we're We're fixing a major issue right now. Okay, so I've decided to run the power over to the passenger side because that'll get me closer to a Grommet hole in the firewall because we need to run some things through the firewall, including this connector for the wideband sensor. Pull that through. This nice little grommet is all the way down there so we'll be able to hide a lot of this wiring.

Okay, then we need to pull through the two wires that are going to connect to the boost solenoid and the last thing that needs to come through the firewall is a vacuum line that goes to the boost gauge. We're gonna start wiring this in, so let's strip this power wire. These are the best strippers ever from Sonic Tools Love these! So here's our power wire and then I've combined both the power wires for both gauges into one since they only draw a few amps and we'll twist these guys together. You always want to heat up the bottom of the wire and then melt the solder and you don't need a lot.
That's it. Then we're going to use my little creme brulee torch, heat up our shrink wrap, and we're good. and there's nothing wrong with adding a little bit of nice good quality 3M tape and we'll just wrap up this entire thing all right. Very nice.

Good news is I've finished up all of the wiring inside of the car so there is my ground and everything is nicely tucked away in a corrugated tube. Bad news is I sliced my finger pretty good. So while my platelets coagulate in my blood to stop the bleeding, let's move on under the hood. God This car is beating me up and and finish some stuff up.

Finish the wiring without getting hurt. If you guys have been watching the channel for a while, you know how much I Love these AEM gauges! So we're going to be using a true boost gauge. so this is a gauge and a controller and also their wide band gauge set up. The Am stuff is just so easy to install and reliable.

I Like it. It looks good too. Oh let's see these things laid up. Oh that's gonna look so good in the cluster.

The turbo timer keeps everything on. Wait for it, wait for it. Bam! I've set up all the fittings on the boost solenoid and I like to drill minimal holes in my car. So for something this light I use these little command strips so all we got to do here is trim it down and then we'll peel the tape off like that and then we'll just attach it here to the frame and these things are very strong.

This isn't going anywhere and I need a Band-Aid I don't have any Band-Aids I Should probably go buy some so little piece of toilet paper wrapped around and then you just put your hand in a glove and it's gone. It's like nothing ever happened. I'm not a medical professional all right. it's wide band O2 Sensor time and yes I have quick Jacks and multiple lifts.

but but why use those when you can just slice in this threading? Wow Oh this car is killing me. I Know safety glasses but you don't think an electrical connector is going to just poke your eyeball out. That's probably why you need safety glasses because you don't know what's going to happen? Okay safety first people here we go. Oh two sensor time.

Now it's threading great. 22 millimeter Lickety click I can still see hey Okay so how many injuries is that in this video so far I don't know two or three. Oh oh bad news is I sliced my finger pretty good. Why isn't this threading now? Wow, this eclipse is killing me.

Okay, there's our wideband O2 connection with all the wiring done I Can install this So this is a bezel around the factory cluster and it's shaped specifically for this vehicle. and then you can see here. it houses two gauges so they'll be right within view while you're driving. I Think this is going to look really clean I have basically the same thing on the turbo Trans Am So This is molded into the factory bezel as well.
It just looks good. I Mean they're taking apart interior on the T8 doesn't look good, but but that that part does well. I Just touched the turbo timer for the first time and the buttons just all fell out. Might be time for a new one of these things.

Screw down. well. the cluster is missing. it's screws.

There's nothing. nothing holding this guy on. Okay, there we go. That's easy.

I really did a number on this thing. The face came off, the buttons are gone. I don't know. It's set up pretty well.

so I think I might just tuck it under here and we won't even see it, but it'll still function. I've taken the screws out of the instrument cluster just so we can kind of pull it back a little and it says 238 000 but this thing's reading kind of slow. The previous owner says he thinks it has more like 250, but I couldn't I Guess it could have more. Okay, why isn't this connected? Any harness? Oh no way.

Oh that's really cool. I was expecting wiring to come out but it just snaps in. Nice look at that. We get the whole thing out.

That was easy. Now this is a little nerve-wracking but we have to drill into the car now. Okay, it's a little nerve-wracking too. I Gotta drill into the factory cluster bezel.

Oh right. and I had to do that on both sides on the left side of the car. We're going to have the wide band so the wires are run through a little hole and on the right hand side we have the true boost so it gets a vacuum boost source and a connector. Oh, this is interesting.

There's something sticking out of the cluster. Oh, that's a gear. Yep, that is definitely a broken off gear. Could be why the mileage isn't really that accurate.

Okay I need to take this apart at some point and then maybe we'll get one with zero miles. Totally good cluster going back. Lester's back in with its screws and here's why: I needed to drill the holes on the side because everything would get pinched by the factory bezel. With those fed through, we should be able to snap this guy back in place.

All right, cool, cool. We're getting there now for the aftermarket piece. I Don't know guys. I Kind of wish it wasn't textured I wish it looked just like the factory one.

So I don't know. maybe this thing can be painted or something like that? Let's just put it in. for now, these gauges are the right size for this pod. but I just add a little bit of black electrical tape to make it more of a snug fit and push it right out.

Same thing on this side. It's all done. This is what she looks like I Love the gauge placement. Hang on again.

the wipers are coming on. Yeah, we got you. Okay, now that stuff. Stop.

Stop it. I Don't know how to work these things. Okay, they're off There we go look at that. Cool.

This is so nice. You can see everything perfectly so you don't have to take your eyes off the road, especially with the air fuel. That's nice to be able to see. um and then I'm a righty.
So I put this on the right hand side so I can go through all of my different gauge settings. So right now we're going off of Wastegate Spring, but very very nice. The only thing I'm a little iffy about is the texture. uh, the fit is okay I just wish it was just the factory texture but cool.

This is done. It's time to install the intercooler. so we're gonna remove the wheels to get the front bumper off. and I definitely want to get new wheels for my Eclipse Keep in mind I'm going to do the facelift bumper.

so the front bumper with the big opening, the wing in the back. all Factory stuff but the 97 to 99 body kit I'm gonna be getting the wheels from Fitmentindustries.com so if you guys search that site yeah and you have any ideas of what Wheels I should get, let me know. I have such a hard time picking out wheels all right? I Have a feeling the bumper on this car is very easy to remove. Looks like we have a couple tens a bulb on each side is that it looks like there's a few on top too.

Oh, we get to see more. Really nice original condition stuff. What's that factory tape forgot something? Whoa. Okay, all right.

there were two plastic Clips holding it on the bottom and now she's off. Look at how clean this is. probably the factory foam? I think and wow look at these brackets are so beautiful. Oh the salt in Chicago just gets into all of these little crevices and makes everything nasty.

Desert cars are definitely the way to go. I'm gonna remove this tiny intercooler now. so it starts with this hose clamp. Pull this right off.

There we go and we have a bolt right here and another one right here. One last hidden Bolt Now it's coming out. Let's go look at the size difference between these. This is so small.

Okay, so we're going from this to this: I think it's about three times as big and this one was smushed at the top so it could have been leaking as well. All right, let's get this Behemoth mounted up a little bit more disassembly on the car. Looks like we have to remove the headlights as well. World's longest extension.

Okay, probably just slide it out a little. should be good. We just need to get this plastic out. All right.

Yeah, okay, this one just wants to come out cool. I'm done with that. There we go. Oh more.

Okay, all right. I've already taken out all of the clips. Let's see, we'll just come out now. We gotta take this guy out too.

All right, all the clips are out there. We go. What's this? It's a bag. It's an air freshener bag.

All right. So I want to point out is that we did just remove a part of the cooling system. So this is an air dam that directs cold air through the condenser and the radiator to keep the engine cold. I Don't think that us removing this is going to make a big difference because we're going to be going with this style bumper that has a huge opening in the front to direct the air.
The old style bumper is a little bit more closed off, but when you're modifying a car, you got to do stuff like this. So I will definitely monitor temperatures. and if I need to make some kind of change, I definitely will. But having a gigantic intercooler on my Trans Am and I got rid of most of the air dams on that car, it didn't really make any difference.

So yeah, we could be good. I'm gonna need a bigger box for stock. Parts Okay, let's get this guy back on bolt in our headlights too. Just two bolts.

That's all a DSM needs. Let's turn this way down so it'll crack the plastic all right intercooler time. So this is a cool piece. It mounts using all of the factory.

Hardware So the brackets and Factory bolts I Really like that and there's a little adjustment here so we'll leave it. Loose For now, intercooler time, intercooler time. Look at this. This is a dream come true guys! This seriously is.

I Have wanted one of these cars forever but I always wanted a stack one that I could just do everything to myself and I dropped the bolts I'm gonna drop the bolt this time. There we go. I did it. So many of these Dsms are already modified and they're ratted out and just built poorly I don't want that I want a nice one I want to build it myself.

There's a bottom bracket so this is kind of loose right now, but I'm going to leave it as is. We're going to set up all the piping first and I am hoping that this new piece here that connects to the turbo will give me room to install the second Factory fan. This is how it's been since I bought it, but the fan is in the trunk and it was removed because this pipe gets in the way. So the air conditioning on this car does work, but only on the highway because it's missing one of its fans.

Oh well, this is a fun place to try and remove a bolt from. Okay, yeah, oh, this is just absolutely horrible. Okay, well I'm gonna spend. Oh there we go.

I'm gonna spend about 10 minutes on this one bolt. Now you can only get it out so much and then it hits the pipe. so we have to loosen up this side. Okay, now there we go.

All right. that wasn't horrible. Our metal gasket. that bolt is stuck in there I don't even know how.

Oh there we go. Got it? Okay I should be able to take out this big chunk all together. foreign. There we go.

goodbye and see the pile you go. I think that's it. Yeah, we've taken everything off. Cool new gasket going in, new pipe going in.

Oh is this gonna clear? It's not going to run into the other fan. You get to add another fan in there. Oh wait a minute. Can we actually get to the yes we can I can get a socket on that.

This is the best intercooler pipe ever. This is small things in life. Oh bye babe. Okay, now this side's a problem.
My socket won't fit on it. It's hitting the pipe all right. So we use the wrench on this side now. Excellent.

Yeah, it's a little messy I gotta do some of the battery. This is a blow up mattress. Okay, there it is. There's that fan.

Oh let's see. oh that. that definitely looks like it lines up. So weird.

I've never seen a plastic and a metal fan on the same car. I Think they might have zip tied the connector out of the way. Let's unzip, tie it and look. I'm 38 years old.

so I don't really use this term, but this is sick. Look at this. We have two fans. We have a gigantic intercooler.

Oh my gosh, this is such a cool car. If I'm too old to use sick, what is a 38 year old use that really describe something they really like? Is it: is it swell? No. I don't think anyone's alive that still uses Swell. I'm a child of the 80s and 90s.

It's totally tubular, bro. you know I Gotta say Swell. It needs to make a comeback. This is swell.

It's it's well. and what does the S stand for in swell? Super? Is it Super? Is that how they Is that? what they did in the 1950s? They just combined well in Super. It's a good idea. Good job.

1950s That swell. Okay I think I have all of this piping laid out the way it's supposed to go. I think we're gonna find out. Yeah, this one goes here because I know the blow off valve sits right up top.

This looks like it goes right. Here is something mess with the orientation of stuff. Okay I'm not really sure if that's how it's supposed to go, but we'll get it all kind of connected and then we'll tweak and twist. This one is going to go right here and right here.

Okay, and this shoehorn part can only go right here. This guy fits in right here. Okay, cool is that it? Yeah, it's no more intercooler tubes. Sweet.

This table is getting lighter. So even though this kit is meant for this car, I'm still gonna go around and kind of just adjust everything so it's not hitting stuff. There's lines and harnesses and stuff everywhere, so just make sure that you have plenty of room. Okay, like this right here.

This is kind of there we go. It was just kind of hitting the O2 sensor. So I'm gonna go fit everything up I'll tighten all these clamps and we're hooking stuff up. We're almost going for a ride.

It's time to replace our Factory map sensor. There we go and we'll slide this guy up. And here's our four bar map sensor for the ECM link and this should work with our Factory connector. Cool! Before we tighten up all the clamps.

I Just want to install our blow off valve and it doesn't really matter which way we do this could go this way too. I Don't know. Let's put it this way. so we're not reading the words upside down.

although this is its source, which would be easier if we just flipped it like that. Okay, all right so we're reading stuff upside down. That's a lot easier. Looks like this is a universal flange.
so there's actually four bolt holes now. Maybe one day when I'm trying to make everything look pretty I'll grind these off all right now we can go around and start tightening up some big clamps I tightened up all the clamps. so now we know the exact intercooler placement. Just need a couple of self-tappers for the lower brackets.

Nice and easy. Clean this up a little. Big difference. We'll have all of this off again when we do the paint job, but that makes me feel a lot better.

All right. Cool. Now we can install this bracket right here. Here's the bracket for the right side.

Leave that kind of loose for now. Then we can push back in our condenser brackets all right with the brackets on. We can install this intercooler once and for all. Well, not really.

Once and for all, because one day this is all coming apart for paint. Try to figure out what color I want to paint this car I do like the white, but I have plenty of white cars so I'm considering a different color. maybe some kind of cool gray I Don't know now I Can slide our piping in. There we go.

Nice. They didn't give me long enough bolts and the spacer was threaded so I drilled this out and used a stud so that's screwed into there with a nut and this intercooler ain't going nowhere. It's solid as a rock. I'm almost positive that this intercooler is designed for the facelift bumper.

I Don't think this is going to fit? Is it No, No, No, not even close. Although I bet if I cut all of this out, it would fit. but I'm I'm definitely not going to waste my time. I Just got to go find a facelift bumper now so we get to drive around like like a real race car.

Next, we have a new engine computer. so this is from ECM Link and basically they take this thing apart and put their boards in it. and now this makes it a very easy to tune modern computer. So there's a program you put on your laptop.

It's kind of like using an HP tuners or really any other tuning device and now we can make custom calibrations. So I'm going to get way more in depth with this in the next video and I might even have some of the best DSM tuners around. Come to the shop and help me out! But right now ECM Link has programmed this for a four bar map sensor and also a math delete. so speed density and we have to install a harness now.

Right now we're just going to remove all the connectors to the factory computer and swap in our new one. Here we go: the new brains! So we're just going to take the mass airflow sensor plug connected to this. Some of these connectors we're not going to use, but we need this one to plug into the intake air temperature sensor which is down here now because the intake air temp sensor is part of the mass airflow sensor from the factory. so now the engine's computer will just get that part of the signal that it used to get from this big harness.
We're ready for the cold air intake now. So I've connected all of our vacuum lines so one from the wastegate is going to the true boost solenoid and then I added a TN for our fuel pressure regulator. It's getting its source from there and we have another T in here for the gauge. So everything is all set up and just make sure to follow the instructions for the boost solenoid.

depending on if you have an external wastegate or in our case, the style wastegate on the Eclipse. So we still have the factory one so it's connected like that, we're ready for a black shiny tube. All right, this should only go on one way. All right, that looks pretty good.

It'll get some decently cool air here if it sucks up a little bit of warm air. This this intercooler will definitely take care of it. We got our fans in here. This is looking great.

This intercooler kit comes with this blow off valve and it's supposed to hook up to the factory intake tube to keep it recirculating, but we don't. We don't want that, we want to hear stuff. I Bought some colder spark plugs and I could totally go look back in my old video I don't remember if we replaced them or not I also wanted to do the wires anyway. Let's see.

did I replace these? Pretty sure we did these. Let's see if I went with the cold air plugs. Ngk's Yep, Brp7es Br7es Okay, yeah I don't remember if I replaced these guys. It kind of doesn't look that new.

I haven't driven this car much I don't know I'm putting these in brand spank a new spark plug. Oh that came out pretty easy I thought it makes a huge difference but these are thicker and I don't know if these are even gonna fit. that's that. but is it going to fit in the factory little Loom thing and it's really tight.

These can't be the right ones now. All right, we're returning these guys. sorry not the right length I Want that factory look spark plugs are done. Everything is connected and this right here is a fresh air intake for the PCV system.

It normally hooks up to the factory intake tube but that could be left open atmosphere and I will be getting a catch can so that will be used anyway. First start with everything connected. let's see what it sounds like. All right.

got a high idle. We have everything connected now so it should idle down pretty quickly. There we go Now she's idling down running slightly Rich at cold start. Totally normal.

good vacuum. I I Gotta say I do like the idea of the gauges here I Just yeah. I Gotta figure something out this bezel and it's got these two holes at the bottom I think for LEDs but I'm probably not gonna have those I don't know. It definitely runs good.

Yes. Oh, and that's that's barely produced in any boost right now because we're not under load. All right. That's actually that's the turbo flutter right there.
We haven't even gotten into blow-off action yet. Oh yeah, she's idle down now. Running good. Oh man, yes.

I Love the way this car drives. It's it's comfortable. everything's in a good spot. The shifter, the transmission Everything feels amazing and handles so well.

Yeah, so it's it's running 12 PSI which is basically stock right now, but we can change that. Yeah, 11.7 was our high. All right. So we're going to turn up the duty cycle quite a bit.

Oh no, no I want to be? Oh, we'll turn that one up too. All right, we'll run. Hey, that should just be a little increase in boost. All right, that's pretty much stock.

Sometimes you really gotta up the duty cycle on these all right now we're in B Ucks. It's like very laggy. It's like all it's like it's not making any boost. Intercooler is doing its job.

It's hot over here, cold over here. Oh, that'll do it. That'll do it right there. Our wastegate Rod came off okay.

Oh, this is hot. Get in there dude. Ah ow I mean I've already been injured a few times. might as well get burned, right? My hand is so hot right now I Just need you to click in.

Oh there we go, Got it. I don't know if that's gonna stay. It used to have a little cotter pin on there. ow.

oh, just three cars merch. It's doesn't just look good. All right. It helps you not get burned.

now that the wastegate's not stuck open. see what happens there we go. There's my Eclipse again. it's slow again.

it was fast one time. Yeah, the rod fell off again. All right, it's time to go back to the shop. All right.

I Stuck my fan on here for about 20 minutes and I was able to get a little cotter pin in so that will not fall off anymore and we will have all the Boost in the world. All right Wastegate Actuator Arm: oh 11-5 Air fuel was 11.5 that's good and we got up two. Let me check. the true boost high is 14.

that was on setting A let's let's go to setting B All right Little roller here. a little roller. let's see setting B this should be about I don't know. 18 pounds something like that.

Oh, listen to that blow-off. Listen to that. Yes, why do blow-off valves get vented into the intake? I mean I know for mass airflow sensor guys, you got to do that and from the factory. they don't like stuffy and loud, but we don't like that we want cool blow-offy sounds.

Hang on. Oh it's so good. Yes, so that was 18 pounds I think Okay, yeah, that was about 18 pounds. 18 pounds.

That's like pretty safe and we're good on air fuel too. I I Think again, if we're still good on air fuel, we're up in the Boost some more. Oh oh I just hit like a fuel cut off there. Yeah, we were good.

Eleven five. yeah, that was about 18. let's just go a little a wee bit more. That's all all right.

I think I got it to about like roughly 20. sorry the sun's a little weird right now. it's getting late. Here's about 20 pounds.
Oh it's not the fastest car I own but it's just so cool. Oh man I've always wanted my own GSX or TSI same thing. oh it just died. okay and you guys can't see me.

Hello the engine died I just had to uh you know, pop the clutch out there but it's it's not really tuned and we do have a new computer. we gotta get to that. Hey guys, you guys got to hear this from outside too. I Gotta show you guys how quick the Boost kicks in.

Watch this. There's a second gear. it gets up there. it spools quick.

Whoever thought some basic bolt-ons bring such a smile to a guy's face? Oh that's beautiful. That's beautiful. And I've always been a big V8 type of guy. I'm not really into like Hondas and stuff like that but I've always had a thing for these Dsms I'll admit part of it was getting beat by them when I maybe used to race on the street with my Trans Am when I was younger Maybe that wasn't me, it was a guy that looked like me.

but if it was me, these Dsms would always kill me and I would smoke the tires off the line and they were just gone every time. I was jealous. but now I have my own makes cool noises all right? So I said in the last GSX video that we brought the car back to Stage zero. We basically just fixed everything that it needed and that this would kind of be a stage one and uh, I I think we've accomplished that.

We're running 20 pounds of boost on a stock turbo. although this turbo is off of a First Gen Eclipse uh which is a larger turbo so it's not really for this car but it is a stock turbo. The engine just died. It does that sometimes I don't that's new.

but anyway, we're running 20 psi. We have an awesome intercooler that's going to support us for a lot more boost than we're giving it right now. It's gonna give us that dense cold air that we need. The blow-off valve sounds cool.

We have colder spark plugs as well. Now we can monitor air fuel and change the Boost with a button in the car so we're all set there. except I Want to paint that little bezel? Uh, and in the next video I Think we're gonna have to get into a fuel system because we are going to be putting a larger turbo on this Eclipse and then we'll get into tuning as well now that we have the EC you link hooked up and we can tune with a laptop. I Know it doesn't look like much right now, but this Eclipse is going to transform.

I'm going to keep this car forever I'm really excited about making it my own. Can we just take a look at these plates one more time? Antique plates on any? Clips It's about six o'clock at night, the sun is still out. it is Springtime in Chicago This thing runs and drives like an absolute monster. I'm gonna go pick up my Grand National from the Alignment shop so it's just overall it's an awesome, awesome day So I'm always curious to hear about what you guys are working on right now.
So comment down below what is your current project car or maybe you're just making a normal repair. So with that the video is done. although I don't want it to be done I Kind of want to just hang out with you guys forever. Oh and speaking of that, June 24th 2023 in Gilberts Illinois at Cannonball Garage I'm doing a big subscriber Meetup We're going to raise a bunch of money and collect a bunch of food for a food pantry and I'd love to come hang out with you guys.

So I'll drop the details down below and with that, give this video a big thumbs up. If you haven't already, share the video with your friends, subscribe if you haven't already. but most importantly, have a fantastic day! I'll catch all of you in the next video. Foreign.

Have you guys ever wanted a car real? That's a nice noise. that's why I got this all right. Let's keep this going. let's see if I can do this 400 times.

Okay, all right, Max this is called B-roll I Don't know what B-roll really means. What does the B stand for in B-roll You ever wonder I wonder like this? That's a good angle. Get out of here Bloody bloody. You guys want to see if you guys can see what happened.

You guys want to see what happens. You guys want to see if yeah, because who really want who really wants I just I Just want to see Shiny I See this was causing some flashy flashes. Look At these flashy flashes that the camera doesn't like. Well, you can't have that.

Get out of here is that cause flash is no flashes. Ooh that's excellent. Don't mind the dirty carpet but what in the world? and I'm I need I don't I need it And on the right side we have the true boost so we had to get and on the right side and on the right and on the right side we're running the true boost and on the right side we're running the true boost controller. so we have a vacuum and on the right hand side and on the right and on the right and on the right.

Don't need garbage on my floor. Oh the headlight came out I have all the clamps weird and I like clamps facing the same direction. Wonder in One Direction it's banned right? is that Harry Styles is from that? Okay, you know this. Take 50.

All right, this should only go on one way and take 51. Oh my gosh, the easiest part of the entire job. Come on now. Alex You can do it all right.

This video brings me back, I had a 1997 Eclipse GST that I would wrench on. T3/T4 turbo, FMIC, turbo-back exhaust, whole shebang. Really easy / fun cars to modify. If you didn’t want to go black, those aluminum valve covers polish up really nicely if you put some elbow grease into them.

Looks like your intercooler bracket is upside down that intercooler sits pretty low 🤔

Hey Alex loving this build! Having owned and built a few of these I can tell you that stall out was the blow off not being recirculated they will definitely stall when dropping back to idle! She sounds great and its great to see as these cars are getting kinda rare.
