Look at this. Whoa Glass boost. Hey guys, welcome back to legit street cars! If you were around for the last Grand National video, then you know we fixed its rod knock with like 20 worth of connecting rod bearings and everything was going great until it wasn't and the engine stopped running altogether. Starts all right now.

We got a bad battery too, so it's not that it won't crank, it, didn't lock up or anything like that, but it just died out and it won't start anymore. and we found out it doesn't have any fuel pressure. So Peter is checking the fuse Peter What do you got? What do you got? What do you got Blown? blown? It's blown. All right.

That's that's great. Something is finally presenting itself to us. We might be able to diagnose this much quicker this time and that first video was a little challenge. All right, let's see if it fixed it.

Go ahead. Peter Come on baby. come back to us. Yes, she's alive.

We gotta figure out that high. Idol This is this is crazy Why why are you so high? But the engine sounds great. This is exactly where it was knocking. before there we go.

Yes, that's where she needs to be. All right. Yeah I had to mess with these a lot when I had my 80s Trans Ams and they just need to be adjusted. That's all.

And if you guys saw the last video where the rod caps were all mixed and matched and the rod bearings were destroyed, uh, I'm assuming whoever did that probably messed this up. I Don't I Don't put it past that person, that's for sure. All right. I Shut the engine off because we have to replace the cracked Dell tensioner so we don't have a belt right now the Fan's going crazy.

We don't want to overheat the engine or anything like that, but at the end of the other video, some of you guys have mentioned you'd still heard a little bit of engine noise. that was its first cold start. There is definitely no knock from the bottom end of the engine, maybe a little bit of lifter noise. I I Don't know we haven't even run this up to full operating temperature yet.

but I really do not suspect any issues whatsoever. but we will. We will be driving this car in this video and getting into some boost. Yes, so we will.

We'll find out if we have any lingering engine issues, but I don't think we do. I think we're solid. Okay, so we're gonna drop the tank, see how the fuel pump looks, see if there's a baffle that's broken or something like that, because in the first video we found the broken fuel filter. But I'm not really convinced that's what fixed the car because we also put like nine or ten gallons of fuel in there at the same time.

Um, and then it stopped dying right after the fuel filter if you remember. We did a few passes in the back of the gas station and uh, it still died out. So anyway, we got to drop the tank, see what's going on there, and you know we're dropping a tank in the shop. Peter and I have to time ourselves.

Uh, we're gonna start it right now. and I think we can get this out in like three minutes with me talking right now. We did the Fox Body in five and then we did the Cobra Mustang I think in like 11. yeah, that was slacking.
I'm so confident we can do this in three minutes. What do you? Uh, what do you got going on after work today? Um, just more going home eating some food, playing with the baby. Okay, cool. awesome.

You want to start? Yeah. I Guess we could go all right. whatever. Let's do it all right.

So the previous owner got that off for us. That's nice and we just got to take these hoses off. Honestly. I think this might take the longest amount of time.

They double clamp this guy. This is gonna be a problem. No, it's not gonna be a problem. It's gonna be fine.

We're probably at a minute and a half right now. by the way. Peter I Don't know about three minutes anymore. That's the high pressure line.

We got fuel. There's still a little bit left in the rail there. I Really shouldn't have talked so much crap. This thing is stuck on.

Come on, you're killing our time. Almost. Ah, we always get screwed over by these little clamps. These clamps are killing us.

It's never the tank itself There, We go there, we go. Okay, all right, we got one look at this part. Oh yeah, we need that. Club Peter Pump.

What do we have? How bad did those things kill us? Ah, we're at four minutes at this point. we gotta at least. Oh, we got a connector. All right.

there's one strap. there's another strap I'll be able to show me. Okay, okay, it's coming down. it's coming down.

Get the timer. Get the phone. Get the phone. I don't know what happened to it.

All right. This thing has helped. This thing is about to say stop 449? That's that's what I said, right? And I think we can get this out in like three minutes. Three minutes.

Three minutes. That's a little bit of Chit Chat Yeah, I think I think Oh, you're right. If I wasn't being so cocky in the beginning, we'd be pretty close to four. We did it pretty close to three.

We we'd be asked for a minute. Yeah, Look, all that matters is that we beat the Fox body time and we had already done that tank on our backs in the middle of a parking lot and that took us five minutes. So Grand National Grand National Rules The Fastest car. It's it's not the fastest tank.

ET Yes, Look at how nice this car is though. So solid. We don't see this around Chicago ever. This is beautiful.

Good bones, All right. We don't have a lot of fuel in here right now, which is good. Yeah, yeah, it's probably what 20 gallons something like that. So I want to do some of the fuel sending unit anyway since it doesn't work So hopefully we can knock out a couple of birds with, uh with one stone? Oh, this is definitely got some kind of aftermarket pump, All right? Well, it's got a couple gigantic zip ties that are getting in our way so we're gonna get them out of our way.
Oh what kind of hackery do we have in here? Okay, that helped. Oh yeah, there is some debris in there and she is a little corroded. So this is the return line right here. And yeah we definitely have a Dw200.

Oh this is. this is actually really nice and it's not all rusted out or anything. Very cool look at this. Whoa.

I Have no idea I've never seen this in a fuel tank. It's like clay. Have you ever seen that? No, what is it like rustic? That's weird. Yeah, look at all that.

oh man. and I mean right now the tank is low. Um, but it's not out completely and this was the issue we were having. it had to have at least about a half tank of fuel to run fine, but once it got low, it would just die out on us every once in a while.

And I think it was also. this is dude. this looks like sand. It's not rust like the rest of the tank Looks okay in there.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's not rust. It looks like sand. Did someone sabotage this car? It's possible they dumped a bunch of sand in here. It doesn't really explain this.

kind of. Yeah, that's I don't know this is this is crazy though. So this is funny. The float arm is straight up missing so that's that problem.

We'll have to order one of those up. Okay, and this wire literally just came right off I didn't even do that. It just hit my knee so that's not a good connection. That that could be the issue too.

Lots of smoking guns in here. Man, these two issues, the socketing clog the sand in there and this connector just falling right off could have caused all of our issues. Wow. and then we have no float here.

so we got to order up a new float. It's maybe in the tank I Don't know, We gotta go find it. You guys know how much! I Love my Grand National! So I think I'm gonna go ahead and replace this pump I actually found one on eBay So hopefully that eBay seller uses today's video sponsor Stamps.com because I want to get my pump like like soon? Actually, no, we need to clean this tank out and see what that that magical goo is. All right. Let's get the boriscope camera in here. Get an up close look at this.

This definitely looks like sand to me. but what I want to know is if we go outside of the little sump it is this stuff everywhere else? Wow yeah it is okay I Thought we'd just be able to clean up this sump, but we're gonna have to pressure wash the whole tank. All right. We're gonna dump out the fuel before we wash it.

All right guys. let me show you how to siphon fuel the real way. You want to use one of these transfer pumps to get the ball from rolling and there we go. So you could either just use this to pump it out if you don't have that much, it won't take you that long or you can just let it siphon itself while you go do something else.

But this tank is so low right now that we need to search around with the hose. so we're just going to use this and you can also suck up a lot of the garbage using this pump. Look at this. we're already getting a ton of the sand out.

Oh yeah, it's very satisfying. Okay, so we have all of the fuel out. We're just going to fill this with water, kind of slosh it around and again, there's not really a good way to drain this tank. There we go: I think I can still hear a little bit of sand so this might take us a little while, but I'm gonna get it all out.

Okay, all the water is out out and I just have my little blue blower blowing some air in there while we work on some other stuff to make sure that it's totally dry while the tank is drying. And because we like to be efficient, we're going to do something else that requires a little bit of dry time and then we'll go work on the engine or something else while this is drying as well. so you can kind of tell what I'm talking about right now. This is a full frame vehicle and this part of the frame is actually kind of like part of the Cosmetics of the car.

I Mean you could definitely see it for most every angle and this just has a little bit of surface rust. So we're going to take care of this all right. We're also going to take off the rear wheels because we can see these rusted drums and we can get to this part of the frame that you can see. You really can't see any of this when the car is lowered, but uh, we'll fix this.

Let's take a look at our drum brakes while we're here. Oh nice. Very good condition. I do want to swap these over to disc in the rear though and put something bigger in the front for another day.

All right. So we're gonna do here is just get any of the loose big stuff off by hand just with a wire brush like so and then we'll just spray a little brake cleaner on here, clean it up, last it with some air. All right. So now this is all cleaned up, we'll pop it off again.
All right. So here's our cleaned up brake drum. Next step is some KBS rust blast. You guys saw me use this on the SVT Lightning frame and it basically just transforms rusted metal.

It's pretty amazing. So I just put it into a spray bottle and let's see what we can do here. We're just going to saturate the entire brake drum. Don't need too much of it, just get it wet.

So on the lightning frame, it converted it pretty much right in front of our eyes. This is working right now, but I think it's going to take a little bit longer. You can see it's starting to get lighter in here so we just have to let it sit sometimes for a few hours. I Stepped away for a minute and it's working.

Look, it's going to make it all silver and pretty cool. All right. So we're gonna hit up some of the frame again. We're just loosening this up and this is nothing more than a little bit of surface rust.

We could probably just grind it all away honestly, but I will be removing the body from the Grand National to do all of the body mounts and at that point we're going to blast the frame properly and coat the entire thing along with rebuilding the engine, the transmission, all the suspension. We're going to do basically a frame off restoration on this car, but that's not until way later on. I'm doing kind of a refresh right now because I just want to drive it a couple thousand miles before we tear it apart. Um, so this is in no way a permanent solution I Just can't be driving around with like literally rust showing on such a beautiful car that's been painted.

just doesn't deserve this. All right. Just after a few minutes with the wire brush just by hand, this is what we have. Just go ahead and get the dust off.

I say the Grand National just needed like I don't know. even just like some some stick ground effect or something from the factory just to cover this area. like the pinch welds and the frame are just exposed, it doesn't I don't know I think I could have done a better job there. That's pretty much it though.

Everything else I Love We're gonna go ahead and spray our rust blast now on the frame that you can see and I Don't believe this would do any damage at all to our paint, but we're just going to be extra careful. The paint on this car is really nice. all right with everything drying. We're going to move on to our brand new shiny belt tensioner.

This thing is 150 bucks kind of an expensive big chunk of Grand National part and to do this job we're going to remove some air intake tubes and thanks to a few you guys we learned that we have some kind of upgraded intercooler on this car. Some of you guys had mentioned that this is the big neck intercooler. It looks very Factory to me. I Didn't get many more details but uh, supposedly this is a bigger neck and uh yeah, a higher performance intercooler which would go along with the fact that we have a fully forged engine that was done a long time ago and it does have a larger Precision turbo.
So someone someone was racing this car at some point. Yeah, this will give us an opportunity to fix this little hole right here. Yep This is going all the way through so that is unmetered air. No good.

Uh I should just replace this whole thing. We will eventually. I'll get a really nice air intake system. Oh wow, yeah this thing is rough.

This is really rough. Oh and I forgot, this air filter is pretty nasty too. Let's clean this up. We're gonna make this GN run perfect in this video.

Okay I just lost all the clamps. That's okay. A lot of you guys mentioned that this mass airflow sensor is probably bad and I would have to agree these oldies did go out quite often. Look at this.

Oh man, it's definitely dirty. Okay, and we'll need a new filter if we want this to look pretty one day. but we'll clean this up for now. I Gotta find a nice and clean cold air intake set up for the Grand National I'm sure sure someone makes one right.

Oh yeah, she's dirty. Look at all that nasty water coming out, don't worry. GN We're gonna let you breathe again some clean air so you don't get the black lung pop all right. So now it's time to rinse off our rust blast.

Let's do that with regular water, All right. We had to move back to the frame. We already sprayed the rust blast on this side as well the driver's side. so right now we're just rinsing it with plain water.

You have to do that before it completely dries and then we'll dry this quickly. Now that it's rinsed off, we're letting it air dry and the white is the zinc coating so that's what's going to protect it so it doesn't rust again. And yeah, we're gonna be doing this entire thing again when we do the frame off restoration. But the reason we didn't see that immediate difference like we did in the lightning frame is because on that one, we sand blasted the frame so it was almost perfect as is.

But this is still going to look good once we're done with the final step. All right. So while that dries, we're back up top to remove this alternator and replace this tensioner. So I've already disconnected the battery.

You always want to do that so you don't start welding to things all right now. we can remove this bracket. All right. There's that and one more piece of hardware for the alternator and there's our ear that broke off.

Okay, there we have it. Yep This is cracked before now, unfortunately. I Don't know if that's really going to fix our belt issue. Um, we're gonna find out.

You can definitely make for a loose alternator, but it seemed like it had decent tension. So I don't know. Either way, we got to replace it. This impression is cut his ear off in some space.
Cousin: I Don't know here. What are you talking about with this impressionist painting? I was like Monet or something I I don't know. So this is an impressionist painting according to Peter Peter painter or whatever. Oh yeah, she's tight I didn't make it to the ground.

Great goodbye tensioner. You've served this Grand National Well I think I don't know. So this is actually an upgraded casting that fixes a bunch of design flaws from this. So it's a heavy duty tensioner and you can see here.

The pulley has walls to keep the belt kind of more centered. so a very nice upgraded and it's shinier. All right. Going in with the new one, we found the bolt in the Bermuda Triangle of the Grand National frame.

Flip it around there we go. All right she's in I Kind of forgot how this went for a second. You gotta powder coat everything black and you put the new orange in it. know I really like the factory look like I wouldn't mind keeping like the intake and the valve covers like the factory silver or whatever.

Maybe we can black out everything else I think that would look really good black that would look good like all the brackets and stuff all this stuff I don't know Peter I don't know guys, let me know in the comment section should I Kind of just get everything powder coated black on the engine when I do the new one eventually I don't know it looks so good on the E55 You're right, You're right. the Whipple wagon does look awesome all right I can't thread this bolt in and talk at the same time Oh See now I got it now I got it? Oh and by the way guys, this isn't going to be for a while. The frame off restoration and everything like I said I just I want one season to just drive and enjoy the car just working as is and then we'll do it. so it'll be like probably the frame off.

The actual insane restoration will probably be like a year from now so we're gonna complete like a pretty big Refresh on the Grand National just so I can drive it for a year and have fun. So that's how this series of videos will conclude. This thing is still going to be sweet and honestly to most people it'll look pretty much the same now as after we do the actual complete restoration, but that's just how it goes foreign. The different tones of Click indicate a different torque.

I'm just gonna walk away now I Don't know Why don't you go Alternator in Italian You know what? I Didn't learn any car language I Grew up half my summers in Italy but I just learned how to speak like as a child and a teenager in in Italian I wasn't working on cars in Italy So I don't know any car terms? what were you doing except for olives. We're picking olives literally. My family owns Olive Trees in Italy and make they make olive oil. So yes, Peter I was picking olives.

All right and they're delicious. We make olive oil in Sicily and they have almond trees mandole. they're so good. Yeah, back in with the alternator.
Come on. You can't do it I Can't do it. You can't do it. I'll show me Shammy you ram a jam Ming All the jam.

Try it now. It looks lined up enough to work. We gotta get some different Hardware on this too. When we build this thing up, that's just not pretty I Feel like that's like Ace Hardware Yeah, all right let's go in with 300 foot pounds here.

Just kidding I Do not want this to break I'm gonna be gentle. click and this is getting a baby click click Yes! we double swiveled this okay for extra articulation I'm just too lazy to go get another tool. These Sonic swivels are amazing. All right.

let me get the belt in. Does that feel any different? Oh wait, yeah, this. this is much tighter now, but in a good way. that's perfect.

Oh, we might have fixed something all right if you had to say what. Like if you had to equate the amount of tightness to an animal like what animal would it be a toyga? Hey look at this. The compressor housing on the turbo is a Garrett Um, all right I Was gonna look up to see what turbo this is and how much power it can make but now this has me wondering what's going on. It's Precision on the turbine housing I Thought Garrett and Precision were a different company did Precision modify Garrett turbos or vice versa.

No, it would be yeah, it would be Precision modifying gear I Don't know I don't know. Let me know guys. there's probably really old turbo but it's half Precision half carrot I Guess all right with the tension around, it's time to make this frame look pretty. So we're using a two in one black primer.

This has a zinc oxide as well so this works really well with a bare metal and this is a satin finish. So we have Peter here holding our cardboard so we don't paint over the car. Foreign. Oh yeah, so we could have gone with gloss or satin.

I Think satin is going to look good. We don't want this to outshine the actual paint job on the car. You can seriously get carried away I Just want to spray everything. It's making it look so good.

but we're just doing a little quick one here. That's all that's all. I'm gonna invest like 10 bucks into this and it's gonna look a million times better. and then I'm gonna invest like hundreds and hundreds of hours into the frame off restoration and most people will never ever see what we do.

It'll just be like oh yeah, it looks the same now. Yeah, cool. Oh man, this is looking good. look at.

you can't even tell anymore. I mean obviously we're coming at it from like the bottom side of the car. Uh, but when it's level I'll show you guys. But wow, what a difference.

Before it was just an orange eyesore just flashing at you that this thing was all rusted. It looked much worse than it actually was. Wow. All right.

So I'm just gonna finish this off by spraying the drums. All right guys, check it out! We just got a new fuel sending unit and a new fuel pump. Um, so this is a Dw200 and we found another Dw200 which is actually a 255 liter per hour. Uh pump.
So this is a ditch Works pump and these are used on a lot of European cars. They're very reliable and this one flows a lot. So we're going to stick with this and we're gonna get a new one. We have a new strainer, all new wiring.

Oh yeah, this is beautiful all right. So we're splicing in the ditch Works connector into the harness here for our fuel sending unit because it is different. We're using the best crimpers in the world from Sonic If you guys have ever wanted good wire crimpers, definitely get their kit. It comes with a bunch of these different anvils.

It's really nice. This is a lap crimp which is the best kind of crimp for you weird wiring nerds. Peter's kind of a weird wiring nerd. sometimes.

he loves wiring stuff I spend way too much time doing it. the Grand National thank you Peter thank you Peter wait no, the Grand National is way tougher than that. Thank you Peter Oh and if you haven't noticed, we have 1978 Michigan license plates on here I Thought they just looked cool on the car, but I am awaiting my LSC GN plates. Those are the plates I pretty much put on anything I'm keeping.

Oh and let me know what. What should we name this car? What should we name the Buick Grand National It's got to have a nickname. Oh and another question real quick on the GSX which I will be restoring hopefully very soon. This is a long-term winter project.

Should I get LSC DSM or LSC GSX I'll probably ask you guys that again in the GSX video series because I don't know, Are there any Grand National guys that are also into this I Am Get that crimp Peter Get it. Get it? Oh yeah baby. Nice and tight. Yeah yes, it's a good one.

Beautiful beach. works all right. We're ready to install our new pump and look at this. They broke off the little holder for the pump on this one and it's missing the float arm.

This thing was all jacked up. We're gonna make it nice and pretty right now and we did have to modify the bottom of this a little bit. We had to trim the isolator as well. That's just because we're running a different pump sliding like that and then we just slide our pump in like so plug it in our pump.

They do make a tool to crimp these clamps in, but I don't have that. Oh, we can just use some good old-fashioned side. Cutters Really all you need. Give it a good squeeze, she ain't going nowhere and then our new sock just snaps right in.

Then they give you this to hold it in, which is really difficult to install a lot of these socks. Just press on. That's much easier than this, but what are you gonna do? Get on there. This might take you like five minutes to do this.

is really annoying. Get on there. This is so dumb. Oh I think I might have got it.
Yes! Yay! All right, our sock is out. It's really annoying. Look at this beautiful piece to go in our nicely clean tank. Let's put it in.

Look at the inside of the tank. It's perfectly dry and clean. That's how we like it. Oh, and we also got rid of the need for the gigantic zip ties as well, so it should be much easier to reinstall.

All right. Don't forget your little black Rubber seal there and then our lock ring. Bam! Beautiful! Oh man. We already got the new fuel filters you guys saw in the first video.

We essentially have a new fuel tank. We cleaned it up. pretty nice. new fuel sending unit, new fuel pump.

We don't have new fuel injectors but I think they're working fine. Let's get this tank back in in under three minutes. Sure, all right guys, here we go. Timer's on Messenger on the Cobra we forgot I Mean we did that on purpose.

Those lines up Peter Oh I got the tool lower the car All right? I Got that one in. This one does not go foreign. Seriously dude. you take away these hoses.

We can do this in five seconds. You're gonna treat me. Tap out. Yeah, it's done okay.

Clip clip clip clip clip clip clip. You got the other clamps. Uh uh yeah. all of them are tight.

The Dual one. Yep, Okay, cool. all right. wait wait we got exhaust.

Ed Back up. Okay dude, we're not messing around. All right. Oh, those are really long.

409 409. that's a new record. 409 Reach boys. We did it well.

Uh, can we start this thing now? Ah yeah. yeah. Oh yes. we need a guess.

Yes, All right we have Peter with roadside assistance here with our 93 octane premium unleaded Gasoline cat. How many guys are just upset about where this is right now? Also, where's it supposed to be? Just like right over here? I'm gonna just take this off and we haven't installed the three eight on the hood yet because we're gonna do a big buff job on this car. So I'm not gonna put any of the decals back on until we buff it out. All right.

I reinstalled our intake. We're gonna replace this though. By the end of this video, we got some on order. Uh, go ahead and prime the fuel there.

Peter I Hear the fuel pump coming on. Nothing yet still on the gauge. Okay, here we go. Our gauge is moving again.

We primed it a bunch of times, but I just got Peter back there there. we go with the Power Probe so we don't have to turn the key back and forth a million times. All right, we're primed. Yay! All right.

Peter we got fuel. Let's do it here we go. Beautiful. No belt squeak whatsoever.

Yeah oh man, that's nice. The idle is still a little high. it is cold though right now. Uh, and we do need to properly adjust this by checking the voltage.

Um, but yeah. so far so good. This is running great I mean absolutely no knock whatsoever. Definitely needs some more idle work that's for sure.
All right. Yeah, it idle down a little bit. I'll take it for now. We have a little bit of adjusting to do.

but overall, All right. All right. So my guys down the street installed a wideband bung for me right in the downpipe. and just like my Turbo Trans Am we put it very accessible under the hood because these sensors do go bad every once in a while so we don't have to get underneath the car to swap it out.

And here is our brand new wideband anti-seize on the threads and all. There we go. Run this guy through here. All right.

Cool. All right. So we're going to be installing a boost controller and the boost gauge properly in the car in the next video right now. I Just want to see what the AFR is and we're gonna go for our first spirited drive and see what she feels like.

Well, you know, as long as the AFR is good. So right now we're just kind of rigging this together. That's connected. We just got it running through here and we're pirating power from the other gauges.

Oh, and check this out guys. we have working hood shocks. This hood is really heavy. These shocks are working great.

Look at this. it just. it's fast. Oh there we go.

Peter's gonna be our gauge holder. Look at that. It's basically a low emissions. Honda Practically a hybrid.

Oh no, no, not anymore. Not anymore. Okay, whoa. Okay, well.

it's Gotta Warm up All right. Let's pretend that didn't happen. It's cold. It's good the next day.

All right. Uh. We've let it warm up a little bit. now.

it's running lean. Okay, RPM's still a little bit high, but our gas gauge does work. I Only put about five gallons in it just to make sure. and it's it's pretty accurate.

There we go. All right. Custom Gauge Pod 11. man, that's like a quarter throttle goes right into the 11s.

That's nice. Well all right. cool. Okay, what did that go to? That was it was like 12.

Okay, we got up to 10 psi of boost on that little run. It just lit the tires up. It's 10 psi. I Wonder if that's basically what it's set at is 10 psi in boost? Okay, that was.

that was pretty much all the way down. That was the AFR Uh yeah. I went down to like 11. Oh okay.

cool. let's get let's give them love boost. Oh yeah, 11 10 Yeah, it just lights them up. It's down a little delayed traction.

Oh man, we got a battery volt light thing coming on. it's it's flashing so that's that's cool. I don't know how I'm bleeding right now. Yeah, somehow the car has cut me.

Okay, we gotta be really careful. I Cannot I Cannot get blood anywhere on my grand National interior. Okay, there we go. Yes, she's only set at 10 psi of boost.

That's like nothing for these I don't know what stock is, but that could be stockish level boost. So yeah, that's nothing. It feels good though. it's running in 11 10 range.
So kind of rich. but I mean overall super conservative right now. Yes I will do a little roller. oh it's lighting them up.

oh my God This this cluster of the speedo is hilarious. As soon as the tire is let loose, it just go. Wow and then it goes I Love it. This was just your grandma's Buick they just stuck a cool engine in it.

Basically all right. we're getting some more gas I Want to watch that gauge kind of go up. so we did five gallons first quarter tank. That's about right.

We're gonna put a little bit more. we'll do another five gallon. see if it goes to half tank then we should know if it's fixed. Not only do you not have an ugly gas flap on the side of your quarter panel, but also you're any side guessing up.

Yeah! I Just got to remember to park closer. Yeah yeah, we're at the we're in the the scratching the paint territory. Yeah, the blood balloon. What are those things that make you collect? Oh yeah uh.

the things in the yeah yeah I don't know that one and then some people are missing them and it's a disease. Oh easy comment down below. What are the things in your blood that that clog up like like an old fuel pump sock on an 80s? G-Body but in a good way. All right.

So we got five gallons in. let's take a look at our gauge. It runs good all right. Let's see, it's slowly climbing up.

These gauges are so slow and they still do move around a little bit. The baffling is not the best, it's the 80s. Yeah, we put another five gallons in, probably settle around half tank. so we're good.

We fixed the gauge. Oh man, it's It's so quiet and like unassuming, this has different Mufflers on it. It's just so quiet you can't hear anything. All right, how was that? 10 11.

All right, it's right. it's running rich. I Mean whatever. It's conservative though.

it's not going lean. it's only on 10 psi. Guys run like 20 psi or more on these. Oh man.

this engine just sounds perfect though. it really does like the rod bearings. Everything's good. oil pressure is good.

We are solid. I Mean I Don't know how long we'll be solid for, but we're good now. see if I get you guys some some audio, some good audio this engine. it's just.

it's so quiet. Oh we got, we went higher in the in boost. it got up to like 12.. how's the AFR on that? So 11's the Low 11s Here is my audible boost gauge.

That should be a thing on a boost gauge where it just tells you yeah, you're at 11. Eleven Eleven Twelve Twelve Lift Up Lift Up 13 14. you're you've melted your engine and you should be able to get different accents on it. Oh yeah, you're running too late too lean.

I Don't know what though, cause I'm so bad. Yeah, we got up to like 12-ish on that one. I Just laid into a little bit more. Yeah, that's like 11.

Okay, all right so we've been beating this thing up a little bit and it runs great. No not no belt squeal. I Think the motor mounts are kind of shot because it shakes, but it's not misfiring. It's idled down well.
The intercooler is doing its job awesome. My blood is drying up too. The Grand National just fixes everything. It's the little things.

Yeah, yeah. Idols Perfectly. 14.7 to 1. Uh yeah.

Tokyo Metric Grand National. Uh and yeah, we got the idol down. It's it's at like 900, it's still a little high. I Mean, if this gauge is any sort of accurate, which it probably isn't, Um, good Vacuum right at about 15 inches I Do think this might just have a stock cam in it? I'm not really sure, but it doesn't sound that crazy.

It runs. it runs well though. we fixed the gauge. we fix the whole fuel issue look as off idle is great.

It shifts nicely. It's a little harsh on the downshift though. it sounds so he's probably looking at me like nice headliner. dude.

All right, here's a 20 roll. Ah yeah, Gloss Boost: It's at like eight now. and uh, Peter loose gauge a 10. Oh yeah, that's weird.

So boost is way lower. AFR is way up I wonder if we pop something off I don't know. We did quite a few passes there and it felt great. It felt great the whole time.

right around 11 ish 12-ish PSI which we found out that is totally stock. so it's basically on stock boost pressure and I think something might have popped up. It still runs good. uh, but stuff is stuff is getting weird.

uh and it's starting to snow so that's that's awesome. But anyway. uh, the car overall I mean it's not fast by any kind of Modern Standard or anything like that, it feels, you know, decent. Uh, the Boost kicks in and feels cool.

It just feels it feels nostalgic. Is that like a really kind way of saying? It's just kind of slow right now I Don't know, it's fast for its ties. it's fast for its time. It's really fast for its time.

So in the next video I am going to lay out a table of performance parts. it's gonna be. well, just like my inspiration for all my videos in the garage, it's gonna be like one of those Saturday Sunday Morning Horsepower TV uh type of episodes. We're gonna have all the performance parts laid out.

uh, we're gonna do quite a few of them at the same time. kind of easier bolt ends for the most most part, but that are going to result in a big boost in power. uh I'm really excited I think it's going to be a ton of fun and we're going to go back in time and just do a bunch of kind of like retro mods mods you'd still do today, but very popular stuff that was done to this car many, many years ago. So uh, we might also have this headliner fixed by then.

maybe I found a shop down the street that can do it. but uh, but come and join us and find out if we have a fixed headliner and if we've made this thing any faster. So with that I hope you guys enjoyed another. Buick Grand National video I Know that I did I love this car so much.
Um, and if you did enjoy it, give it a big thumbs up. Share the video with your friends. subscribe if you haven't already going under a bridge, it's gonna kill my lighting There we are most importantly, have an awesome day! I'll catch all of you in the next video. Foreign.

Back in the day, I helped my brother-inlaw build up his 86' GN. You commented on the shifting was not right. The designers that made the transmission did crazy cool things like you can with the adjustment at the throttle, pull a clip. Move the cable in or out and can change the shifting from smooth for grama to chirping 3rd gear. But the tran was the weak link so you have to put in the full blown HP kit replacing almost everything to make those trani's survive. Back then we made massive power out of his. Not like my 1,100hp R32 GT-R but pretty good for a grocery getter car. With technology what it is today. Replace the ECU. We had to re-chip the old one. Even after that, it prevented it from making more HP.

I wish there was a car like that in South Africa ๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฆ. Congratulations, well done on your new acquisition.
Reminds me of my high school days, cars that motivated me to break the poverty line and stay above it….one car that did that for me was a 1986 BMW E23 735i…*in my garage now*.
    Stay Legit Sir ๐Ÿ‘!
