In this video, I remove and take apart the 56,000-mile hand Built AMG V8 engine in my C63 to discover catastrophic failure. This engine looks to have been maintained and I have many maintenance records. Let me know at what mileage your engine let go. Enjoy!

    Hand built?

I think he put 89 octane gas instead of 92 and the engine said "Nein!"

I think the valve spring broke, causing the valve to hit the piston, seems to me that someone may have over-revved the engine? Do they have rev-limiters?

Seems like mercedes use crap internal parts, all that money and not even 60,000 miles.

You should turn the valve into a keychain for the car

Nice video, I think the spring broke first, then hit the piston

Im thinking somebody wasnt using premium fuel. That plus it being tuned slowly damaged the valve spring/bucket and it starts from there

they definently didn't drive it slow, really laught when you said you believe them

Why does it have the TRD stripes on the front? 😂

Definitely a spring failure dropping the valve. Ive seen same destruction on 5.4 Ford 3vs when the roller followers or springs fail, even at low load highway cruise engine speeds!

I think maybe it got hot broke a valve spring and dropped a valve. Had a Northstar cad get a little overheated dropped a valve seat jammed between the valve and head and grenaded the bottom end. Had a couple nissan and infinity and bmw zero tolerance motors do the same get warm bad stat break valve train parts and destroy a bottom end. 25 years as a tech see alot if strange stuff. Only other thought is it still got hot collapsed a piston but I am leaning toward valve. May even be something with the tune it advanced or retarded threw the timing off and valve hit piston or vise versa

    Finally a Mercedes content 🙂

We’re gonna need a recreation of what happened.

What do you guys think happened? Valve issue or a piston/rod issue? Or ????
