We unlocked the key to Toyota Prius fuel economy on a Corvette without sacrificing any horsepower. In fact, we increased the C5 Corvette Power to Corvette Z06 power levels at the same time. This Corvette is getting close to Prius like MPG with over 400 horsepower! If you want to learn about tuning this is the video for you. Tuning an LS1 engine is a lot of fun and Mike from Hac Tuning is an amazing instructor. If you guys want to learn how to tune cars this video will give you a behind the scenes look at how it's done. I hope you enjoy this one as much as I enjoyed making it.

For once a person who actually knows how to set up and use a (Mustang)chassis dyno as well as extensive knowledge in street car tuning. My rerspects.

Hey there internet 👋 I have a 5.9l magnum I use as a work truck. Was wonder how much it would cost to get this done? The fuel economy is terrible and thought doing this would not only be fun with a supercharger but saves me fuel in the long haul. Throw me your 2 cents thanks in advanced

Such a great video! Very informative

There are kits you can buy, that would convert this engine over to run on wood chips instead of petroleum. Just don't expect much HP. lol Maybe I should build the first C5 that runs on wood.

I can't believe Mike retired from tuning I was really hoping he would be my salvation in my quest for a tune on my jeep

This man had some knockers that I felt perverted the amount I stared at.

Adjusting fan speed at that rpm specifically only moves the economy back out of your favor the extra draw from the fan pulls from the alternator thusly from engine costing fuel. 200-220F coolant temp is where the economy is so changing the coolant temps took away some of your gains. Some newer stuff is pushing that limit higher. Older vehicles dont have the internal design to go much over 190F coolant temps but for that engine you should be able to push 210 and hold it there during cruise. You should have used the shop fans to simulate road speed air through the engine compartment with the hood closed and used a temp probe on the exh. manifold. You might could have kept some of the 6percent fuel he put back in to accommodate the temps. That temp gun error is over temp (outside of its range) you very well could have been at the 800F mark. Should have taped a probe to the manifold and closed the hood with the shop fan IMHO. Also could have done some throttle position specific tuning to save a bit on standard throttle take offs (sub 35percent throttle). Even though depending on how the vehicle is used the cruise speed may be the larger savings leaving a few percent on the table was an overall economy loss. Thx for the video.

This Is not a lean burn. This Is only lean and your Nox Is for sure over the roof. Also : lean compared to stechiometric do not produce higher temperature.

Definitely late to the party for this series but I am C5 shopping and this is really neat coverage thanks for taking your time to do this project!

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Heavy Duty Roadside LLC says:

That mode does not work well, it’s better to keep it off, adjust target fueling for a 16.5, and pulling timing at cruising.

You should go further with this MPG corvette , pull it apart , increase compression , mild port job on heads , CAI, longtubes , full exhaust , mabey a smallish custom cam .. 500hp and 50 mpg ? ! 😂
