In today's video, we explore the two most recommended and unnecessary add-on maintenance items. I will answer the question of whether or not you need to do automotive maintenance that's not listed in your owners manual or recommended by the auto manufacturer.

Just a couple of things, this sealed for life transmission business is nonsense you can go longer with synthetic but they still need servicing, ZF recommends I service my "sealed for life transmission" every 80 thousand km. Also the power steering reservoir contains a filter so the tank needs replacing when servicing.
Thank you! Great information 💯❤️
Just bought a 2018 GLC300. Iridium spark plugs? Every 50k miles. Tranny oil? Every 60k miles (cost $1,200).
Sounds like Liquid Moli Diesel Purge that I used on my MB 300 SDL. 157K on my MB OM642 with no issues.
There is a product from BASF KEROPUR, you can use it every 3rd or 4th time you fill up.
Power steering flush is a big help. My pump needs to be rebuilt or replaced but I can extend the life by changing the fluid every year. Really I just flush all fluids every year its not a big deal.
My 04 c230 kompressor with 150k has never had a fuel injection service and gets 25 mpg and runs great. Love your videos Alex, I've been a fan for a while now and finally caught up enough to watch your older vids.
Great just when you want to see this clown eating breakfast
Mercedes CL 500 2002 5.0 l m113 engine, urban -9.7l/100km city approx 14l/100km
Nice video my 2005 e320 with 200k miles never had any of that running like new 👍 I haven't even changed the transmission fluid yet no issues at all
check out the fifth gear episode on fuel additive quiet insightful. They were just doing the ones you put in the fuel tank. Can't remember if they did an emissions test though.
This type of practical advice is what is needed to be shown to people. Thanks for being so down to earth and taking the time to explain things to those of us without wrenches.
2013 BMW 550i 60k miles dealer offered me fuel injector cleaning for $250 but when I ask what exactly are they doing service advisor couldn’t tell me I decline. I fuel my car at Costco with 93 every time.
Never Never Ever do a transmission FLUSH, a Filter and oil Change is fine… But, in my experience you should at min change it at or around 100k… but, if you car has very dirty almost black looking fluid and rocking 200k or something then I wouldn't recommend doing much to it… I have seen many transmissions fail with dark fluid and a slight "stutter" right after the fluid is changed or flushed.
Who has never had these 2 services done yet your car is still running like a champ? List make, model, year and miles. Go!
